Default Ls6 intake install

I have a ls6 intake on its way for my 2000 camaro z28, I was wondering if there are any gaskets or other items I need for the install besides the coolent pipes and plugs, and EGR is already gone?

i have been looking in the search section for about 45 min and found that you basically dont neet anything but the oil pressure unit (i think its called) because most people break them and mayb gaskets. if you grind the ribs down on the ls6 then you dont even need coolant lines or plugs. oh yea and you need 2 knock sensors and a harness if you have a 98.

When I did mine, I bought two of the LS6 coolant lines, one for the front and one for the back. The manifold already had the gaskets, I bought a new one, so if you got a used one, I would say just check out the gaskets if they are on there and if they look good, no cracks, scuffs any kind of obvious damage then reuse them. You can use the same bolts that hold on the LS1 manifold, 10 I believe, just check the threads for damage, and use them with the LS6.

an fyi for the person who posted and rippin, i read about a good idea of using some clothes pins to hold the bolts out of the back of the ls6 intake for when you slide it back in there. sounds like a good idear to me.

I reused my stock gaskets when I did my Fast 78. Then, when I did the head cam, I reused em again. No problems. I used old fuel hose to hold the bolts up in the back of the manny. Just look them over and make sure they look good. They are more an O ring than a gasket...

1999transamman: did you have to get any plugs or seals since you only used 2 of the coolant lines??

another option besides the coolant line conversion is just to dremel or grind down the ribs on the bottom of the intake. thats what i did and theres really no probelm, saves you a couple bucks from the crossover lines as well

Get the 2 coolant lines, get some masking tape because you will need to tape the back 6 bolts in order to pull the manifold off. you dont need an oil pressure seding unit, just lift the manifold up and out and you wont break it. remember there are 3 different things in the back of the manifold so make sure you disconnect them otherwise the manifold wont come out. Don't tighten it down too much. Have and friend help you. You will need to get a special tool to take off the main fuel lines, buy it at autozone and then return it 3/8ths if i remember correctly is the size. There is a purge button ofor the fuel on the manifold, you have to unscrew a little **** and then click the little thingy inside. Be prepared that the fuel rails are going to leak gas after the purge so have some blue towels ready. The injectors just pop out.

anything else?

good luck on the installs

I have my manifold ready to go on but i am still debating if i should grind the tabs or buy the lines. After ou grind the tabs how are the lines put back on. Is there a pic i can use for reference? or is this one of these things that you have to figure out after you take the manifold off?

You guys are making this sound harder than i thought as well.

just grind the tabs, the coolant lines stay on the block, you will see on the old manifold where the lines lay under the intake and where to grind them down. some people say leaving the lines helps keep #7 hole cool.

oh ok. I seen a pic of the lines on the block now that you mention it. I dont have a dremel, can i just knock the tabs off with a screwdriver and a hammer?

can you grind off too much of the intake? im kinda new to LSX engine since i just sold my LT1. Im looking to do a LS6 swap soon also and would be kinda scared of grinding down the intake.

Is there any pics of someone having the intake grinded down?
