Hooker exhaust
Well ive had 3 or so different types of exhaust on my car now.. Im currently running LT's with a magnaflow bullet and slp over the axle section. It sounds really good but after i put my cam in (G5X4) i think it will be way too loud.. I read a few posts, some people are saying hooker is a pretty quite exhaust.. But how well does it flow?? I dont wanna get stuck with something like a flowmaster... I need a good flowing, quite, exhaust. Thanks

Heres a dyno printout. Run 2 is full exhaust through the hooker catback, run 3 is with the cutout open.
Any problems reading, i only gained about 2hp by opening the cutout. Seems the hooker catback flows pretty well....

I have it with LT's and y-pipe. It's quite at idle, but sound great at WOT. I get complements from my friends all the time. They say you can't hardly hear it running when it's just sitting there, but they love the WOT runs. And teh reason I got it was because it has been said that these are one of the most free flowing exhaust systems. Funny because it's one of the cheapest too.

Yea you cant beat the price of the thing, and it is pretty well flowing. As mentioned before....you can barely tell I have a cam when the thing is idling, but at WOT its very nice sounding. Very quiet exhaust compared to other's i've heard.
Only thing I would suggest is trimming the rear pipes down....the tips stuck out way to far on mine.....I love my sawzall

No problemo! Also like suburbanlife866 said, plan on trimming the tailpipes down some. My tips would have hung out like 5" past the bumper if I hadn't trimmed them down.
I think the Hooker catback offers a tremendous value, it sounds good and flows well. Also do yourself a favor and spend alittle bit of extra money and get some good band clamps, if you ever have to remove the system it will make it alot easier. If you are installing it yourself mock it up before you do, I found that the tailpipes slide into the muffler alittle too "loose" it offers quite a bit as far as adjustability, however even with it clamped tightly it had the possibility of rotating slightly. When I go ahead and reinstall I am going to have the tailpipes expanded slightly to offer a tighter fit.

Hooker is one of the highest flowing replacement mufflers you can get for our cars. And out of all the cat-backs I have heard I still love the Hooker the most. Others will argue, but the sound is amazing to me especially for a $80 muffler.
And I have had mine on for 3yrs now daily driving & still no rust. So don't worry about it not being stainless.

I just put a Hooker catback on my T/A and I love it, sounds great at idle and nasty at WOT. The tips did stick out to far, so I had to sawz-all that ****, but for the price and performance it was a small inconvenience.

Yeah my buddy with his '01 Z28 has the Hooker exhaust and its a quiet runner till you get moving. I noticed with my kind of car flowmasters will give that room filling idle but the Hookers will just be loud enough not to offend. Rest assured on the outside of the car, the hookers are definately making some sound.
