Default which cats are which - and which are best?

Ok i'm trying to figure out what cats are the best for the money. I did lots of searching and found out this from various threads:

Random Tech #616806 434 cfm
Car Sound #93009 428 cfm
Car Sound #94009 417 cfm
Walker #15147 391 cfm
Random Tech #616549 355 cfm
Stock LS1 304 cfm
MAC LS1 293 cfm

Catco-365cfm
Carsound-400cfm
Random 813000-327cfm
Random 703000-535cfm
Factory LS1 Passenger-220cfm
Factory LS1 Driver-251cfm

So the Magna/Carsound #94009 is only around $60 and seem to outflow the Random Tech cats that are $150 each? Also where do the Magnaflow #59959 fit in as far as flow at around $120? There are plenty of threads about magnaflow cats but no one ever says which part # they are. I would assume that the $120 magnaflows will outflow the $60 magnaflow and they are smaller. So out of these 3 I want is the highest flowing, regardless of price!!

#1 The #94009 are on ebay -$60 each- 16" long -don't know if i can post the link.

#2 Magnaflow 59959 - $120 each 7.75 in long

#3 Random Tech 813000 series judging by part # -$150 each anyone know the length?
http://www.ls1speed.com/catagory.cfm?catagory=Exhaust

Also does anyone know where to find the Random Tech 703000 cats that outflow them all??

Random Ceramic cores ones for 170.99 in 3" or 150.99 in 2.5" The 3" version is 598 CFM. I am sure that's all most motors will ever need. They use a very small body for good ground clearance as well.

Random has changed their parts #'s so we just call them Ceramic cores or Metal Substrate cores. Depending how old the sites you look at, the #'s will all be different.

The # I gave you is for the 3" Ceramic Core bullet cat. Obviously the 3" one will flow a lot more than the 2.0" core. That's why I tell everytone to get the actual CFM #'s for the exact cat you want and then choose. Very few manufactures give the numbers. Without the actual CFM's #'s, you cannot compare.

All Random tech cats are EPA compliant as a replacement for defective factory converters.

cool, thanks!! So ceramic core is 598cfm and substrate core 617 cfm - why such a small difference in flow for such a large difference in price? Also do you have any exact dimensions on the ceramic core cats?

The differences in flow rates are more pronounced in the smaller sizes. The 3" cats flow pretty good in either configuration. The advantage of the metal substrate cats is that the bodies are physically smaller as well. Flowing better and smaller size = more money!

I am gone from the shop now, give me a call tomorrow and I can get you the exact sizes. They are both pretty small.

What size would be a direct replacement/fit for the stock ones, 2.5" or 3"?
