Just a thought but if you do wanna make it functional you might not want to daily drive it, otherwise you will be pushing water right onto your air filter when it rains.

We sell the JAAM WS6 kit to make the factory hood functional. As already mentioned, you have to be careful when driving in the rain so the filter doesn't get wet. A K&N style oiled filter is highly recommended.

Here is the link in our catalog:

Yes. We recommend a good aftermarket intake lid as well as the factory one sucks. Our 85mm air lid is fantastic.

It's functional is that air does go through it. However, it is not sealed to the airbox which pretty much makes it for looks only as it comes from the factory/

For ram air to have any effect, it has to be sealed to the air box. The JAAM kit does exactly that.

I did it with mine. k,... the only way water would ever be an issue is when someone gets a bucket full of water and tosses it though the nostrils in your hood. It sux! .. cuz you know THAT happens everyday!

Dude, ..I took a saw-zaw and cut those 2 baffles out, then went to home depot and built a funnnel out of aluminum to isert into the space where the baffels once where. looks clean. Spent a total of $20s do'n it to.

The baffles are rivited in..just use a small bit and drill them out. no need for saw-zaw.

If the car is not a WS6 from the factor it does not have ram air. You cant buy a new lid but that is not the same as the box. GM does not manufactur the box anymore. A regular Trans Am has a different box. It is also called the front radiator support. GM has them on backorder, you will only be able to find them on websites that carry it, or on ebay. GM says that they still have the machine to make them, they just have not made any yet. If you have a VIN from a WS6 though you can buy one through a dealer maybe. GM will scan the country seeing if any dealers have them in stock or in warehouses. Then GM will buy it back and send it to the dealer you boght it from. They will go for around 140 bucks
