Default new headers !AIR !EGR, help!

so im changing over to some LT headers im at the point of removing the manifolds now, and noticed the AIR fittings, as i have an 02 camaro i know the EGR to the throttle body is no longer there. what should i do with these hoses running off the manifolds, do they just get blocked off or plugged?

thanks for the help!

I'm presuming that your headers don't have the air fittings. You have one of two choices,
1. remove the hoses and the air pump( but you'd need th have the air codes tuned off or you'll throw a code)
2. Leave them and hope that you can fool the smog places.

I'm gonna have them removed because the backfiring is getting on my nerves at WOT.

You just remove the whole AIR system, if you do a search there's walkthroughs with pictures of how to do it. its really easy to do. do your new headers have fittings for AIR? if so you need to get block offs for them

What's causing the backfiring?

i just installed lt's on my 02. I also removed the air system. I had one small vaccum hose located towards the back of the motor that i couldn't remove. Did some searching and found out most people just stick a screw or something in it to plug it up. I think there's noway to take it off without removing the engine. Hope my 2 cents helped.

I think he means the hoses that pass the air to the headers from the smog pump.

There are several threads that discuss how the fresh air that's being sucked in causes this backfiring, same thing applies for any leaks in the exhaust system.
