Default What LS1 Mods should be done first?

I have just purchased a LS1 out of a 2000 firebird with the 4L60E.
I am going to put this in a 1964 Chevy Pickup. The motor came with Pace Setter Headers. I am looking to spend about $1000 to get a little more horsepower out of the engine. What would be the best bang for my buck?

X2. That will bring you right up to 1k if you do it yourself. The cam swap is easy as hell on the LS1.

come to houston with that attitude and a pocket full of money and you'll leave broke, bro. as far as the engine, i would go ahead and do some new bearings and rod bolts, good valve springs, and a leakdown test. and the stall everyone is saying.
