Default How about TDs completely straight piped?

I've seen a lot of true dual setups on here, but I haven't seen anyone run a pair of aftermarket headers and then just true dual, straight piped back until just ahead of the axle.

No cats, no muffler, no y-pipe, no x-pipe. Essentially just super long tube headers. How would this work for sound and power? I know it won't pass inspection.

ran an open Xpipe on my cammed car for 6 months.

it sounded cool at idle...but driving it around was actually annoying. i'm all for loud, but i found myself nursing around at 1200rpm so that i could keep the noise down and nto get iin trouble.

a good set of straight thru mufflers made the setup MUCH more enjoyable. i don't worry about running it up to 5K around town anymore.

do a search, i've posted vids of the comparison....the muffled setup is still LOUD to wake the neighbors, but in comparison to the straight pipes in the video....you can barely hear the car run.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about (and then taking it a step further removing the H-pipe and mufflers). It would be a really clean exhaust layout, but not a practical one.

I'm running straight pipe true duals with Magnaflow 14419 3" in/out 4" case bullets dumped at the axle and it's not rediculously loud nor raspy. WOT it is pretty loud, but cruising around it's very tolerable. I like it a whole lot, but this setup isn't for anyone with a lowered car.

I'm going to do it on my formula, but I'll have a X in there. They'll also go all the way out the rear axle so hopefully it'll keep the noise outside of the cabin.

He said no mufflers or connecting/joining pipes. A straight pipe with no muffler or crossover or anything like that will be loud and raspy

if your car has a rebel flag on the hatch glass it will work out great for you, otherwise put some kinda muffler on there so it doesn't sound like complete ***

I now it will sound like ****. You def want to put a X or H junction in it and some type of muffler in the system.

No muffler or x/h pipe + LSx + LT's = Annoying as hell on street car.

Too much rasp, too much noise period. I drove mine with just LT's for like 3-4 days. Screw that. It sounds terrible.

I put cats and 1 chambers and an x and my car sounds like sex. It is buttery smooth and very deep and people know it means business when I hit the loud pedal. It's still pretty damn loud at WOT but very tolerable any other time. And it's smooth. I hate rasp.

I'm also pretty sure an x would make more power than just two open pipes btw.
