Default Cutout dangerous to bottom of rear pass. seat?

I placed my cutout opening on the I-pipe right in front of where the rear passenger seat humps down. I took my car to an exhaust shop today and they told me that it's dangerous since the bottom of the car can catch fire since the exhaust can get hot. It that possible? I don't know what kind of material is used at the bottom of the car so I don't know if it's flammable.

When they install it should be angled down just a bit but there should be no concern. They do sell short turn downs if it really bothers you.

I think you're OK as long as you have it aimed down, you don't idle for long periods, and you don't have too much grease on the bottom of the car from a leaky pinion seal.

That said, have a look at what happened to this guy....

You are correct and I think it is more of a concern of the floor pan heating up and effect something inside the car. As it has been pointed out keep flammable/oily substances away from that area.

That shop if full of fail, i have mine there, and it's ALWAYS OPEN!!! Hitting WOT all the time, go to a different shop, or buy a cat-back that already has one and do it yourself.

I know a guy whose carpet smoldered due to having a cutout in the typical spot, but the problem was that it wasn't angled downward, and he was kinda running WOT for a LONG time (evasion of LE).

Mine isn't really angled downward. Maybe I should get a little adapter that dumps it down?
