Default best place on exhaust to measure AFR??

Does it matter where you monitor the AFR on the y pipe? I'm using the Lm-1 to monitor my AFR. I got the bung plug welded on the passenger side of the Y. Should i have got it welded where the y comes together?? I have the Pacesetter Lt's and the ory running into a flowmaster catback.

DAMN. I had my LM-1 sensor installed on the passenger side. Guess I should move it to the driver side for a better reading.

I thought the passenger side would run leaner........the first plug to melt is #7. Passenger is further away from the fuel feed..... am I wrong?

GM most likely optomized the placement of their o2s from the factory so at or around the stock placement should be best

the pass side might run richer because ls1's don't run a return fuel line, ergo, the fuel pressure will be higher on the pass side because the fuel will "back up" on that side. just spitballing but it sounds plausible.

so if the passenger side runs rich than the driver....by how much. My LM-1 reads that i'm running 11.9-12.2 AFR above 5k rpms. So should i lean it out some more or leave it there?

Being that cylinders 7 and 8 both have fueling issues you could feasibly do either side, or both for comparison. Most popular seems to be in the secondary bung on the drivers side from the trolling that I have done. Having our manifold designed the way they are apparently moves more air back to 7 and 8 as well as having a fuel system with no return on the rail and a vehicle that likes to throw bodies back into their seats can also take any debris in the rail and push it to the back of the rail where 7 and 8 are. I would believe that either side would be okay based on my trolling of his board and hptuners'. I have mine on the drivers side as it was really easy to route my wire through the existing hole in the floorboard. Having a safe rich tune is key, too rich and you will wash the rotating assembly, but the difference between 12.0:1 and 13.0:1 to me as far as fueling goes is negligible as you are still on the rich side of stoich.

I would lean out that AFR to between 12.5-13, and keep steady timing with it as that can also affect your WB readings.
