Default LS1 vs. LT1

I have a 95 camaro Z28.There is a 98 Z28 for sale locally and I wanted to know the pros on switching to an LS1.Mine is a A4 with 3.73,CAI,catback,and has 126000 but I have had the motor gone through and everything look brand new a lady drove it b4 I got it.The 98 is stock with 90000 miles. So please tell me why it would be better to switch to an LS1

more horsepower, that and more aftermarket parts, its just up to you if you want to spend the money, personally if i had an LT1 i would just keep it and do things to it, LT1's can be pretty fast too

It's all in what your looking for. The LT1's are nice cars too. Personally I love my 01 Z-28 with the LS1 but I've never owned an LT1 so I can't really say which I would like better. To me the LS responds to mods better but then again a 383 LT1 is a bad *** torque monster.

My LT1 blew away my LS1, My LT1 had 139,000 miles on it, stock internals, running 6 psi off a supercharger, never any problems. It was an A4, 3.73's with a ton of additional mods, subframes, walbro, meziere all the general stuff. My LS1 is good, but it'll take a couple g's to get it where my LT1 was. If money is not an issue, upgrade to LS1, Take about an extra $6,000, call EPP and get it rebuilt, with a cam. Then you are good to go. IF money is an issue, keep the LT1, get it rebuilt too with some mods and rock on.

LS1 is far superior to the LT1. There easier to work on, more reliable, more power and responds better to mods. At 90k its just broken in, if its been taken care of. LS1>LT1

I've owned both and would get the LS1. Superior top end and coil pack ignition > optispark.

Yeah the car has been taken care of because my sister bought a 92 RS of the guy with 136000 miles and it has 210000 and still runs no problems.I would own about $1000 more than what I do right now.The car has never seen rain or snow.I duno I guess Im just want something different. The cars look the same black T-Top Chrome wheels.i just didnt know if how more the LS1 had to offer.

mid to low 13's for an ls1 but can easily get into the 12's with a few minor bolt ons.

heres a pretty accurate site for 1/4 mile times

It would be on the expensive side but you can convert the lt1 to coil pack. But I got to say i love my ls1.

This has been discussed OVER and OVER. For the money your going to spend to upgrade to an LS1 you can build a 500hp 383 LT4 Stroker. The LS1 has about 50rwhp more then a stock LT1. Is it worth it THAT much for 50rwhp? Or would you rather a nice 500hp Stroker?

All it takes for an LT1 to be side by side with an LS1 is..

LT's
O/R Y
Catback
CAI
Tune

Want to beat a stockish LS1? Add a nice lumpy cam.

Everyone makes fun of the LT1 but i thank edelbrock for coming out with some nice pieces for them. A friend of mine just went with a stockish rebuild for his 97 SS. Edelbrock LT4 heads, Edelbrock LT4 intake manifold, Custom sleeper cam, Shorties, Catted Y, 11.5:1 pistons.... End result was 378rwhp, 381rwtq.

He didn't say engine swap. Get the ls1, look up the price of an optispark and then try to change one.

All you have to do is take off the water pump. It's not bad at all.

GM is not going to downgrade their motors. So Ls1 Will be a little better than lt1.

And in my opinion the LS1s sound better
