Default Mac headers on 2000 Firehawk

I have a set of Mac headers in my garage that say they fit 98-00 f-bodies. However, I have seen a couple places that say they "recommend" getting the EGR components from 98-99 to make them work on the 2000 models. Does anyone know if that is correct? Deleting my EGR is not an option, or I would have done that. It seems weird Mac would make headers for 98-99 and 01-02 for the same price, but for 2000's you have to buy $150 worth of crap. Does anyone with a 2000 have macs?

I have a 98 camaro and I have mac mids sitting in my garage that are for im assuming an 00-02. They have the air provisions but no egr provisions. I am going to get rid of the egr in my car just because of a lack of the provisions. i prob. would have hooked it up if it was on there, but i will be doing the !air and !egr.

Not sure if a 2000 has EGR or not. If it does, use the 98-99 Macs. Hell the 98-99 Macs work on any 98-02 f body.

I used to run a set of mac's on my 2000 back in the day when there weren't many header choices. I did have to get the 99 egr pipe setup I had a friend at the dealership give me the hookup deal or you can just run a block off plate but you will get an ses light.

I have a '00 that have the Macs on. I ordered them off of eBay and they gave me the choice of the EGR and AIR provisions. I told them my model and what I wanted and got it. What I would suggest doing is taking out the EGR and AIR simply because in the long run, it's less crap to get in the way when your working on your car and it's less you have to hook back up when you install your headers. Deleting the codes is easier than you think.

I have the MACs on my 2000. Removing AIR or EGR will throw a code, but you're going to need a tune after installing the headers, and they can delete the codes really easily while doing your tune.. You'll probably throw a code from the Secondary O2s anyways.

I removed my EGR and AIR. I wasn't planning on it until I seen the enormous amount of gunk built up in my intake from the EGR. I'd highly recommend removing it. That system does almost nothing for emissions, and must have been thought up by a 3 year old.

However, if you insist on keeping the EGR, you have to use the EGR hose/fitting from a 98-99. The 2000 model is in a different location.

Definitely. How much does he want? The reason I can't delete my EGR and AIR is because the only shop near me won't remove it. It's a Lingenfelter shop and they do everything by the book, so I had to buy cats cuz they wouldn't install an off road y-pipe and now they say they won't remove the EGR and AIR. The next closest shop is 40 minutes away, at least. There's a ricer shop near me, too, I may see if they can just bolt my **** on. I would do it myself if I had a lift or even ramps and didn't live in an apartment complex.

You could also get a mail order tune to delete all the codes.

Just came back from my buddy's house... sorry, but I asked him about that part, and he said he threw it away.

Update: I found a new shop (RPM in Lewisville) and they are removing my EGR and AIR systems as I type this. I'll have the Mac's with ory pipe with magnaflow cats put in, remove EGR & AIR with code delete, along with some NGK TR55 plugs and UMI sfc's for $475. Not too shabby.
