Default Hooker or SLP exhaust???

Thinking about getting a new exhaust soon...i was originally looking into bassani because a buddy of mine has it on his mustang and it sounds awsome...but i realized that if i get an SLP or Hooker exhaust i can also get an SLP y-pipe for the same price as just the bassani exhaust...does anyone have eathier of these setups or know how it sounds?

Which SLP kit are you looking at? The Loudmouth 1 is a great set with manifolds and cats. I got a ton of compliments on the way mine sounded. If you are going the header route in the near future go with something else though. I have heard the Hooker cat back and it has a nice tone to it. Magnaflow is another great one but only if you spring for the quad tip one. To me the cannon tips only look good on TA's.

this weekend me and some guys had a little cruise one had loudmouth 2 on stock manifols and sounded good, one had lm1 on headers y and cam and it was one of the loudest cars i have heard in while, it sounded amazing whn he punched it...my magnaflow is a lil 2 quiet for me but im gnna put a cut-out in there this week....another one of the guys on the cruise had magnaflow with stock manifolds with a cutout and i think it sounded real good, had a real deep tone to it

i might do the lm1 w/ the y pipe...it seems that the y-pipe usually just makes it a deeper sound and when u add the headers is when it gets really loud

To me the Hooker has a slightly deeper tone than the LM1. At least with the LM2 you can swap out the muffler for the resonator if you want a change but I still think the LM1 is the best sounding cat back with stock manifolds, and the tips are pretty decent to boot.

Just for an alternative, I just put a cutout on my stock catback right before the rear axle. And it sounds great. .probably pretty similiar to the loudmouth. Has a real nice deep tone and doesnt drone at all to my suprise. Personally im SO happy i didnt waste my money on a catback becuase this is exactly the sound i wanted. Its not nearly as loud as i thought it would be at idle or cruise, but sounds awesome at WOT. And the best thing is it cost me $26 from summit racing plus 2 hours to put it in. Im in the same boat as you with a completely stock 98 Z28, and dont have alot of money to waste. By far the best mod ive ever done to a car for the money
