Default Knock sensor low voltage = retard timing?

Wasn't sure where to post this, but here goes. I know that one of my knock sensor clips is broken in my 99 SS, but I was still able to plug it in. Every now and then I will get a code for knock sensor low voltage. I am going to replace the knock sensor wire harness soon.

My question is, when the knock sensor low voltage DTC is thrown, does the ECU max out the spark knock or retard timing?
The reason I ask is because my car seems a little sluggish at times, and that's the only code I get.

Intermittent. It goes away sometimes, I'll erase it sometimes, but it comes back every now and then. I just want to know if this will have any effect on performance.

Interesting. But it doesn't say whether the code will affect timing or not. I wish I had a scanner to view real time data.

On my 2004 GTO, the computer pulls 2* timing when the knock sensor low voltage is detected. I just tuned out that code until I replace the bad sensor.

How noticable would pulling 2* of timing be for performance?

On an NA motor, not that noticeable. On my turbo motor, very noticeable.
