Default P0102, I am a bit confused...

Took my Nova out today for a long drive to a car cruise. The car ran absolutely perfect for the trip there, and all day. I stopped to get fuel, and proceeded out of town. As I started to accelerate, the car started bucking pretty bad. Pulled over, got the scanner out and pulled a P0102. No big deal, I figured the mass air was dirty and just acting up so I figured I would just disconnect it and run SD untill I got home. I pulled the connector on the maf, and the car died. I started the car again, but it refused to idle. I had to limp the car home 50 miles with it bucking under any type of throttle input or load. WTF?? why would the car die without the maf?

Is the car tuned to run on SD?

no, but it was my understanding that when the Maf fails or is unplugged, the computer reverts to SD, and runs off the computer tables. I would think the car would still idle without the Maf.

Ive never heard of that but I will check into that. Most cars that I work on will not idle or run worth a damn without a MAF.

Okay just went out and unplugged mine and the car continued to run just fine, and it tripped the P0102B code you referred to from disconnecting.

Ok, so why would mine refuse to idle? I just don't get it. Anyone have any tips for where to start? The MAF is brand new GM truck unit with only 200 or so miles on it.

Sorry dude I have no idea, I would go through all the wiring, its saying basically that the MAF is disconnected which makes me think you may have a wiring issue.
