Default NGK TR5 OR NGK TR55 spark plugs

Hi everyone;

Well, it is getting close to new spark plugs, and I believe the only difference in the 2 plugs is the gap. The TR5 is a .035 gap, and the TR55 is a .050.

Which plug would be the correct one for my stock 2001 Z28 (lid and cat back)?

Thanks in advance.

SteveC

As the others have said, TR55 gapped at .050" should do you nicely.

Thank you all so much for the input, I am going to take it that "NA" stands for Naturally Asperated", which is the catagory I fall into.

TR-55's here, too. Please, please remember to check the gaps before you install them! I only had one in a set of eight that was right on out of the box. Don't trust the stock gapping!

whats the benifit to running tr55's over the iridium plugs? I hav ealot of detination ive noticed on warm days and im in canada so a warm day is like 35-40 degrees wich equates to 95-113 lol. I was thinking if i could find a cooler plug then the iridium (currently running) then id use them but if the tr55's arent any different then ill just stick with these and detune some i guess ...

From what Ive read the only benifit of iridium plugs is that they last ALOT longer, but as far as power is concerned normal TR55's will spark just as well as any iridium plug, with the benefit being ALOT cheaper

Iridium's actually make a slightly stronger spark. When they were updating our store for the new NGK "ULTRA IRIDIUM" or whatever their rep came in with a little display that actually showed the spark capabilities of iridium and copper and the iridium was a little brighter and a little larger.

However, I don't think that makes a difference unless you have a really high performance motor or a smaller (four or six) cylinder. IMO.

NGK TR55's at the stock .060. I repaced my plugs and then after a few hard passes pulled a few...perfect burn...they are the best plug I have found.

We've got them as a package deal at the link above and keep them in stock ready to go! For the plugs alone, it is $17 plus shipping.
