Default Oil Pressure Question

My car has 131000 on it. After a race about 3 months ago the oil pressure droppped to between 0 and 40. Well I thought the pump was going and I was putting a cam in so I just delt with it. Now the cam is in and the oil pressure is still low like that. After oil changes it comes up but for maybe a week. People say there is a lot of smoke after races also. What could it be?

sounds to me like the ol engine is just tired..probably time to down it before it lets go and freshen some things up inside of it..rings, bearings, timing chain set.

EXACTLY what mine does when I lay in it. But just normal driving it does fine. My engine was not taken care of before I got it. I've got another engine I'm building on the side and am getting close to swapping it in.

I think its tired also. But it surpised me how it happened all of a sudden. I put a new Oil pump, valve springs, push rods, and the oil pan was leaking so I took that off and replaced the gasket. There was no metal and the motor looked clean. Loses about 2qts of oil between oil changes.

That is probably due to wear on the rings allowing the engine to have a lot of blow by and obviously power loss..Do a simple compression check will let you know that..Did you install new valve seals with the springs? I suppose it could even be wear in the actual valve guides themselves at that mileage.

2 quarts between oil changes? damn..thats shitty. any leaks at all? i'd do a compression test and go from there. my 00 TA has 136k on it, burns no oil but leaks from the rear main like a bitch...i only have to add 1 qt between oil changes (3-4k miles)
