Default 241 heads on 5.3= lower compression?

Hey guys, Im in the process of getting things ready to put a 5.3 turbo motor in a regal, I was wondering if a set of 241 heads would lower the compression on the 5.3 motor allowing me to run more boost with pump gas, or will the stock 5.3 heads be better. The only reason i ask is because i have a set of 241 heads in the garage that are getting no use, and if they would be benificial to be, that would be great!

Any help will be appreciated,

thanks,

Josh

i think your right beacause the combustion chambers are bigger theres more fireing room = less compression

theory seems sound. What are the size of the 5.3 chambers?

241 = 66cc chambers and 862 (5.3) = 62cc chambers. It will lower your compression.

The 241 heads with a stock MLS gasket will put you at 9.0:1(Stock 5.3 is 9.4:1). Sounds like a fun project!

It's the same gasket i believe. I know the MLS gasket has LS1/5.3HO printed on it.

sorry to bring this back up, but people have been telling lately that i would be better off leaving the compression ratio at 9:4:1 on the stock motor with the turbo. What do you guys think? Would dropping the compression to 9:0:1 be better with the turbo or would I lose horsepower by dropping it? I plan on running around 10 psi with the mp70 turbo.
Any help will be great!
Thanks

That question is probably better to ask in the forced induction section.

off boost you will have more power with higher compression but you can run more boost with lower compression
