Have some 243's in the garage, should I get them ported?
I bought some 243's since I'm going to install the Vengeance VRX3 cam, but the more I think about it, I was thinking I might as well have the heads ported. I've searched and can't find where, or an estimated price. What kinds of gains could I see from ported over stock 243's.
Thanks
Thanks

I think you should sell them to me.
But yes, if you have the money to spend, definitely get them ported by a good shop. I'm sure Vengeance could hook you up with that.

If you can afford it, of course the answer would be yes. A ported set of 243's is worth between 40-60 rwhp depending on who's porting them.
You can call Patriot and see what they'd charge to run yours through the CNC mill. I don't think TEA does outside purchased heads anymore. If not one of those, my machine shop has a pretty damn good porter that ports LSX heads for $800.
If you don't get them ported, at least cut them .020. You will have plenty of PTV room with that cam, and cutting .020 off will bump compression up a good bit. Basically free HP/TQ.

When are you planning on doing this? I'd trade some stage 1 Patriots with the dual springs straight up for them if they're stock untouched 243's, but I won't be pulling the motor for another month or 2.

We can get you setup with fully CNC ported heads and CNC valvejobbed for under $700. Different valve options as well as spring upgrades are available as well. We also offer milling at no additional charge. As mentioned above, choose wisely. There is no need to go through a middle man that is trying to make a buck on someone else's work and has no CNC/porting experience at all. Shoot me a pm with what you are thinking about getting done and we can get one of the best if not the best CNC'd 243 castings on the market!

IMO, Best proven consistant 243 CNC I've seen around for street 243s is LIVERNOIS.
They keep the runners real small so you benefit from added CFM, great for throttle response and below the curve trq.

.400 261 ...... 185

Very strong flow numbers and with their small runner (smaller than average competitors) they have velocity too

Where'd you get those numbers? ^^
I have to 2nd the Livernois suggestion. I don't know why they aren't more popular on here. They perform consistent with their advertised numbers.
Also, their Stage 3's are comparable to others' Stage 2's. Most people assume they are huge hogged out ports because they are labeled Stage 3, but as PREDATOR-Z stated they have smaller high velocity ports.
I have a set waiting to go on.

You gave them to me, I thought they will be usefull. Since I had suggested those heads, I figured OP would like to see them
Livernois are one of the few shops whose heads will flow as advertised if independently tested. I've had a couple of sets pass through my hands (made me wish I had gone with them before, next time for sure if stock castings are needed)
{off subject} I'll send you some cam's specs tonight, all my datas (lobe charts) are at home. I'll give you a few options.

Dang, Tsp prices are falling like the stock market. OP just wait it out a few months and you can get a set of PRC heads for a couple hundred bucks.
And speaking first hand here, Jon your 243 heads aren't even close to being the best. Even PredaterZ has recommended other brands as being better than yours. From what we've seen around here you better stick with your 5.3 offerings.

It is just that Livernois managed a CNC program that keeps intake runners smaller than TSP (in 243s) which translates in better velocity. That is where I prefer them for street applications.
TSP has come a long way in the past 4 years and always work hard at making things better.
All in all all let us not forget TEA as well, it really depends on the application and cam used.
