Z06 cam power increase?
i want to throw a Z06 cam in my 2000 T/A with patriot dual valve springs its for a turbo setup in a couple of weeks but for now how much power can i expect from the Z06 cam and patriot dual valve springs? i wanna do all the boltons and run it down the track and then boost it and see the difference so kinda trying to get a number here from the Z06 swap.. thanks
reason for Z06 cam it was FREE with 420 miles on it

If I were you i would defenatly get a cam specifically designed for a turbo application you can get a custom grind which would get the best results and driveability or buy one from speed inc or texas speed . i know speed inc sells turbo grinds that do far better with your application. In my opinion go with a turbo grind youll be happier trust me.

^^^seems a little optimistic. I agree with above go with a cam designed for a turbo. it will work much better. Also if you are going to go through all the work of a cam swap I would look for a better option than an LS6 cam.

The Z06 cam is a wonderful turbo cam. Stock bumpsticks typically are. I'd go for it. 30hp might be a bit high, but that doesn't matter...any gain will be nice. The turbo is where your real power will be had, so design the valvetrain around comfortable daily driving with a slight attitude.

Read an artical in Hot rod. Where a guy was building up a Ford Fairlane for pinks. He used mostly donated parts including a 5.3 that had been sitting for years, a leaky e-bay turbo, ect. He dynoed it before changing to a Z06 cam and gained 100hp from just the cam swap. Btw If I recall he had that thing running nines lol.

Very true. The LS6 cam outshines the stock LS1 cam up top where the stock cam falls down. You may only pick up 20 rwhp peak hp, but it will keep pulling well past peak while the stock cam drops off. The key is to shift at least at 6600 rpms to take full advantage of the power.
