Default no top end oil HEEELLLP

just put in heads, oil pump, lifters and pushrods and I started the car and it sounded rather loud. We took a valve cover off and no oil is getting to the top end but I am getting 60 psi of oil pressure so I don't think it is the oil pump o ring. Any thoughts? I measured for the push rod and got 7.3 with .080 preload.

The rockers aren't loose so I wouldn't think that would be the cause.

how long did you wait till you checked?
it takes 30-45 seconds before oil gets to the pushrods from cold start.

Were the lifters new? Did you pump them up with oil prior to installing? How long did the car run? Did you just let it idle when you started it?

When I did mine, I did NOT pump up the new lifters and it took a good minute for the lifters to completely pump up and start oiling the top end. Oil pressure was fine, just took longer than I prefer and was a little harrowing. If you bring the RPM's up to about 2500 it will help significantly.

Same here. I would say it took several minutes before I saw good oil up top and I pre-filled my pushrods as well. I didn't worry too much because I had plenty of Redline Assembly Lube in the critical areas and oiled everything well prior to putting on the valve covers.

Agreed, give it more time. It can take a few minutes to get oil up there at idle (quicker with RPM's obviously).

Hey Guys,

You were right it just took a little time, we had the valve cover off and all of a sudden the noise just dropped significantly and the top end started to get oiled. BTW, flipping your coil harness makes your car run like poop...
