my head studs dont look right
ok i have head studs that i had left over from my silverado supercharger build. well i wantd to use them on my camaro but they were way too long. and then when i picked up my head bolts, they were too long also. WTF is going on, why do they look to big? were there 2 different sizes or something?

The 2004 blocks used head bolts that were all the same length and they are shorter than the earlier LS blocks . If your engine is older than 2004 , the longer bolts or studs which ever you decide to use are the correct ones to use .

but see thats the weird thing, my silvy was a 2000, and my camaro is a 2002, but my camaro head bolts are way shorter than the studs from the silvy and bolts that i bought for my head swap

I can settle this one fast for you........ Give us the code off the block in front of the pass side cyl head on the pad that sticks out. There'll be a letter followed by 3 numbers. That'll be the production date of the block. Report back to us the letter and 3 numbers and I'll decode it for you.

Can you get a digital camera back there to get a pic? this is how i usually get casting numbers and such. I set the camera on macro or whatever the close up setting is and lower it down and push the button or just set the timer and lower it down by the braclet thing on it.

well im stupid, i asked my friend who helped me, well actually i helped him do my heads, and he said all my head bolts were the same except the small ones at the top, and they were all short, not like my silverado which had 2 medium size bolts and 8 long bolts, so it has to be a 04+.

and my son has hidden my digital camera somewhere and he's 3 so trying to retrace his steps is lunacy. i may have to just go get another one, so taking a picture is out.
