Melling HANDS DOWN, at start up I get almost 60lbs hot or cold and NEVER moves until it goes WOT and I see nearly 80lbs! Just add 6.25 quarts of oil cause it moves it pretty fast! I have had it on for 3 summers and beaten ALOT with not a hicup!

run the blue spring in the melling - The red spring cause the oil pressure to be to high - if you have a double roller timing chain you will have to clearance the oil pump housing for it to fit.

296 is a high volume and higher pressure pump i think it only comes with the red spring. But looking for more info on people running this pump. I heard really good things about it but like to know more.

Mine came with both springs and two O rings - green & black!

The Spring does not cause highter pessure, it raises the bypass pressure.

If it raises the bypass pressure doesn't that allow it to run higher pressure?

at a higher RPM it would allow it to build higher pressure, but if you idle at 40 psi you will idle at 40 psi with this one as well.
