Default How Many Of You Have Had Problems W/Cylinder #7?

Hey all,

Just wondering how many guys have had problems w/cylinder #7 (specifically w/regards to running lean or low pressure) and what the surrounding circumstances were? (Stock, modded, happened during racing, not racing, etc)

Thanks!

Probably 80% or more of the time on engine we get with a bad cylinder especially detonation it is number 7.

When I bought my flow matched injectors they came with 2 injectors that flowed around 1 lb more. I was instructed to install these in #7 and #8 so they would get addequate fuel flow. Sounds like a good idea to me, it looks like all of the air from the intake manifold gets shot straight to the back. You know which runner is at the back of the intake, oh its #7. Chances are #7 is getting more airflow than the rest of the engine and it needs extra fueling to avoid detonation.

I did the same thing, installed my 2 highest flowing injectors right onto cyl's #7 and #8.

#7 was the culprit when my engine went.... det. took out the rod bearing. AFR 205 heads, Torquer @ cam and supporting mods....

Wow ... this is starting to get interesting. Just for the record my car's #7 rings went to sh** after 80k and no mods other than cat back.

I was told from a machine shop, that the cam shaft twists and you have to allow more PTVC on cylinders 7 and 8.

My GF's ls dropped cylinder 5, low compression, oil past the rings.

Yep. Almost every engine I've ever replaced due to failure had something wrong with #7.

They especially run lean w/ a FAST intakes on the car.
