i pulled longblock /trans out the top....you either need a big cherrypicker or a hoist...due to our long *** front bumpers a snall cherry picker will not work...

I also did a friends motor at my work using a lift. That was nice I had the motor on the floor in 1 hour. But at home on the floor with the cherry picker I can have it out in around 3 hours
3hrs!! holy **** it took me 3hrs to get all the fucken wiring harnesses off. damn u guys r fast mechanics hope they pay u well. lol I think it calls for 2hrs to pull the trans in the books but I could be wrong. I just pulled mine out the bottom. well its still sitting there cuz I have to get another jack to lift the car up another 5-10 inches so maybe nxt week when its nice & hot out ill sweat my *** of in the garage haha

yes, its very easy out the bottom. I did mine in the garage in roughly 5 hours from start to finish. it took us literally 10 minutes to drop the motor out the bottom. Was unhooking the rest of the stuff that took a couple hours.

I just turned 20 in may, i have owned my car since i was 16(01 trans am). i dropped a gm crate ls6 and had my tranny built, etc.. i took mine out of the bottom, only time i need help was pulling the front assembly out and back in with it hooked to the radiator support on the hoist. it was a piece of cake for the most part. ive got a few pics in my album. hope everything goes smooth for you man good luck

where did you find one and how much if you don't mind my asking? I'd like an LS2/3 one day. factory motors are still the most reliable imo when it comes to everyday use

Interesting, looks like the general consensus is that you can take it out from the top OR the bottom. I'm concerned about being able to get the car high enough off the ground to take it out from the bottom myself.

the only dis advantage i see front taking out the bottom is having to bleed the brakes when you put it back together
