G5X-3 on 112 w/PP LS6 59cc on A4, Streetable???
Ok looking for some info here guys. I've got a set of PP LS6 stage II's with 59cc's. My original cam of choice was a G5X-3 on a 114. Currently I am waiting on my cam to arrive. I called the shop and was told that the cam came in with a 112 lsa as opposed to a 114, and that the 114 were still a few days out. Now my question is should I go ahead and go with the 112 or hold off and wait for the 114? Keep in mind that this is going in a stage II 4l60e car with a Yank PYe 3600 vert. What kind of streetability will I be sacrificing going with the 112, instead of the 114? Any advantages to going with the 112 over the 114? Any input would be appreciated. BTW this is not a daily driver but it does get driven 2-3 times a week (75 miles). Car will see track time about 10 passes a year, and I do spray a 125 shot (I don't know if LSA has any effect on N2O use).
Thanks,
Matt
Thanks,
Matt

Also, I hope you have a decent gear - that will really help out the streetability and peakiness of a hefty cam.

agreed, if a small shot like a 125-150 it wont matter what lsa. also i have heard that cam on a 114 in an auto this weekend (the guy that made 440 rwhp in his auto) and it was rough and barely streetable. i wouldnt put this in my daily driver at all (and i have a 230/230 on a 111 lsa).

Well I called LG and they said with a 3600 stall I shouldn't have a problem with idle with the 112, so that is what I went with. I'll be getting the car tuned by Jayon at MTI. Hopefully he should be able to get it to idle correctly. I hope so.

If you do not fly cut, you will run into piston/valve clearence with the 112. With the 114 and the same heads, my friends car had .205" valve drop. This is about as close as you want to get. LG reccomends .220" clearence. The 112 will be much closer than .205" and that would not be good. I'd call and get the 114 unless you want to cut. With the 114, the car peaked at 6500 rpm's on a 114. I'd call back and get the 114. You'll make plenty of power, your nitrous will work better, and your car will idle better being an A4.

Jayson should get your tune done ok. If you have any issues, just call me and we will tune you up.
The car at the shootout didn't have any problems when we reloaded our tune in his computer. His CPU somehow got flashed back to stock, so he wasn't scaled for the larger injectors.
The PP heads should work fine. I would still check the V to P clearance with the 112. It has .012 more TDC lift than the G5X-3 cam on a 114 lc. Give me a call when you check your clearance out.
Thanks

Thanks for picking our cam.

Lou how much longer before the 114 is in stock? If I will end up having to flycut the pistions, then it might be worth waiting. Beast made some good points about the Nitrous use and idle as well. Any ideas on what it would cost to get the pistons flycut? I can take them out myself since the rest of the engine is torn down. Any recomendations of shops in Houston?

The hell with the idle, I have faith in Jayson being able to get the tuning right. I just want to know if I'm really going to have to flycut the pistions, and what it cost to do so?

We can do it right in the block with the Isky fly cutting tool. We charge $280 to do it if the heads are off. It only takes 2 or 3 hrs, and we have a modified cutter to do it. If you want to load the engine on a pickup and come on up, we can do it while you wait.
The G5X-3s will be in next week around Friday.
Thanks

My X3 showed up last night. UPS says heads will be in today. TSP says all my other stuff will be in today as well. It's going to be a real long weekend. Man I hope I have clearance.
