that is not good then that is how mine sounded because the oil pump was sucking air due to me using the old o-ring instead of a new one...after i swapped out the o-ring the noise went away...i would check that first man...sucks but it could be an easy fix...

Oh ok, I'll find it when I get home. What does yours show ?

Chris, Oh ok. I was confused lol. Damnit. This requires taking the entire pump off correct ? That bolt makes me want to kill a child ! I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

the numbers on my el torro

well i had the cam sitting in the box un-opened, said what the hell and opened it. remember the cam i ordered,

Comp LS1 Custom Camshaft
230/230 .612/.592 111LSA + 2
3016R/3725R HR 111+2

First thing I notice on the box is this sticker

Than I see at the edge of the box, close to my specs except the INT is .613 and the EXH is .591

Inside the box is The Cam Lift Report

Took some pictures of what they put on the end of the cam.

So Matt, which cam DID you get, guess you will really never know which sucks. Remind me not to go thru TR to order my El Torro, I thought you had it already installed bud. I'm am gonn run the same specs on mine too...Q-how long does it take for them to grind a cam and ship...2-3 weeks?

You guys are silly. There are tolerances when grinding cams. Comp tries to grind the cam as close to the specs as you ordered. The specs for what you ordered are on the comp cam card. Thunder racing has a cam doctor which actually measures your cam to make sure it was ground correctly. Being within a degree or 2 and within .005" on lift is no big deal at all. The numbers on the end of the cam are the cam lobe grind #'s, basically the part number of the cam. What Thunder Racing does is a good thing and that does not mean to avoid buying cams from them at all!

i would actually recommend buying from TR just for the cam doctor, makes one feel a little more comfortable if they are just going to install dot to dot and not degree the cam...proves at least the cam was ground right...

Hey bro, are you still running your stock heads and have you had it tuned?
I gotta work Saturday night so I can't make it to the meet, but I defintly need to hear and ride in your car before I order the cam...how much did TR charge for the cam and did you do the install yourself? Hows the car running these days...

The cam i believe was 389.00... and sorry you can't make it, was hoping to see you bro. I still have stock 99 heads and still is running on the old cam tune. runs but is not as strong as what it could be. When u get the cam we can hammer it out, its not that bad.

Well after about an hour of searching for the damn bolt we found we screwed up another o-ring. Good thing we checked it before we put it all back together again. Swapped in another one, bolted everything back up, without removing the radiator lol, and started it. 10lbs more pressure at start up than normal. Didn't let it get hot cause is was late and neighbors are asleep. Hopefully everything is good and I can get it tuned tomorrow on the dyno.

I'm glad you listened to us man. I thought for sure you just kept reading right past what I was saying and I really didn't want you to hurt your engine! I know you just wanted someone to tell you everything should be fine but I know how much time and work it takes to get our cars where they are. No one wants to blow stuff up.

nice job man yeah i did the same thing, radiator stayed in, a little tight but not bad…good luck on the tune…

for future reference so you don’t drop the bolt I found it good to make a slip knot with some fishing string and when you get it backed out half way tie the string around it and then to the body of the car just in case it slips…
