If you HAVE TO HAVE Lunati, then I cant help you. If u want to save som serious bucks and dont mind usinga Callies crank, then SDPC a sponsor over there----------------> can help ya. That is where I got mine. Eagle now makes a stroker as well for MUCH LESS than Lunati or Callies. Take a look around before you commit. Bear

What is the quality of the Eagle crank? Anyone had probs with them? Does Scoggins sell a complete kit?

I had a CALLIES brand new 4.125 crank and the reluctor wheel broke like a high school cheerleaders hymen on PROM night and I would stick with a PROVEN LS1 PERFORMER-LUNATI CRANK as a broken relucutor wheel is not fun!!!!

That is kinda what I thought. Also, need to ask a question conserning my cam. It is a MTI cam with the following specs. Duration @ 050 252/244 .595. Advertised 305/297. Will I have to relief the pistons to compensate for the high lift?

Are those specs right? That is a hell of alot of duration! I would think that you'll definitely have to flycut your pistons.

Hey Matt, are the pistons that come with the Lunati kit dished or domed? What is the advertised C/R on them?

Rob you can't run the Pistons that come with the Lunati kit and get a 427...I think you know that. You're going to have to resleeve the block 4.125" and go with a 4" stroke. You realize how pricey this is. The rods that are in the Lunati kit I "think" are too short or maybe they're too long or maybe just right, heck I can't remember, but I know the Lunati Kit you're thinking of will come no where near close enough to get you what you need. The block machining and everything at a bare minimum will run $2000 plus if you want main studs and such just add more $$$. Figure on a Lunati Crank for about $1500 or so and then a good set of rods will run around $650 plus. A good set of pistons depending on a lot of varying factors should go around $550-$600. Then you need a great set of heads which I would recommend TEA Stage III Judson Massengil Series Heads. They're around $2700. That's gonna get you started plus all gaskets and all the bearings, and such....

Rob, what block are you gonna use?

I'm going with the Darton MID just for the added strength , in case a 250 wet shot ever needs to go on

I was told by my machinist that the Darton setup is great on a drag motor, but a dry setup would be the best bet for a car that will see alot of street time. Something about geting the sleeves to seal. I dunno. Just going by what he said. Anyhow. I will probably go pick up my block next week end and start prepping for the RA when it come out. I hope its around the first of the year. I was told that it could be as early as the first part of Jan

I talked with Jay @ Lunati today, but he was running out the door to the PRI show... I can get further information top of next week. The way they have most of their kits is a low compression, stock compression and high compression (3 separate kits). I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Of course we do have a 408 full kit sitting here if anyone is interested it's available immediately and is very close to our cost.

Rob, that's the route you should go. No worries of cylinders cracking, dropping, etc. Get a set of TEA 6.0 Jud Massengill series heads and ta-dow, call it a day
