Opinions: TSP Ported LS6 Oil Pump
I need some opinoins on this oil pump to make sure its worth ordering it for my cam swap. I'm ordering other things from TSP as well so I'm not real intrested in paying extra shipping to get one from Katech. The TSP pump is quite a bit cheaper than the SLP or Katech and was just wondering whats different about it? Thanks!
BTW: I don't plan to visit the track much, if ever. I mostly keep it on the street

For anyone (pre 01) who does not have the LS6 pump, GET IT! It is cheap ensureance against not only engine damage but also spending a weekend going back into the motor to replace the pump later. ALWAYS use a new pick up tube O-ring when you mess with the oil pump.
ask them:
1) if its an LS6 pump (this is a MUST)
2) if the bypass has been cleaned/debured to prevent sticking (a MUST)
3) if the housing has been ported to increase flow
4) if the bypass has been shimmed to increase pressure (YOU DO NOT WANT THIS)
Those questions will tell you if the pump is what you want.
I personally would (did) just get an LS6 pump from a dealership. Then do the porting on the housing and clean up the bypass your self. This is time consuming though (a couple of hours with a Dremel and a file) and not for everyone (I was super tense till I got done.....had never ported something like this before).
