Gomer has this setup, and has no P to V issues that I'm aware of, and I don't *think* he flycut his pistons. I'm sure he'll pop in here soon.

Hey Spanky are you going to have to flycut the pistons with jays heads and the G5x3, are you having the heads milled at all?

I've got the same question. I just received the LS6 style heads with the 59cc chambers and the 231/237 cam. I'm probably not going to install them till next spring as car is in storage. (It's cold up here). But I've been following a few threads about these heads and cam and that thought has popped into my mine. I don't want to have to flycut the pistons so it would be nice if Treavor or Jason or Gomer chimed in here to ease my mind.

Care to share how much you are getting them milled, either way that thing sounds like it is going to be a monster.

Well, kind of a long story.....My heads are going back, and I'm getting some new ones (upgraded, new stuff, intake work, etc). The heads I currently have have been milled ~.015, but there are a few tricks that can be done to a head to aid in P to V clearance, so my P to V clearance (with 2.04 & 1.60 valves) is actually more than stock, unmilled heads (with stock valves). Call Jay at AS, he can do some "tricks" to aid in P to V clearance. (Disclaimer: I'm sure other porters can do the same) Shawn

Cool, i am seriously thinking about going with Abosulte heads and possibly a G5X? cam for my H/C setup hopefully around the first of the year. Have you had a chance to talk with him about how well he thinks the Afr heads will work with extra special touches. This is the only thing i am debating before i decide what heads to go with.

I believe TSP installs this setup with no flycutting.

FWIW, A buddy of mine installed a set of TEA 5.3's milled .005, and the TSP 231/237 and no problems.

Hey guys, sorry it took me a while, but I've been in Louisville at the RVIA show and was SUPPOSED to go to the PRI show in Indy today, BUT I had a wreck last night on the way home from KY. I'm ok and thank God I was in the Maxima instead of my Camaro!

But to answer your question, I did no flycuttin to my pistons and have turned my car up to 6,800 several times with no problems. I have just installed the dual quench patriot LS6 style heads on my car ( I had the original LS6 style patriot head) and I'll be dynoing again with the newer heads next friday. If you have any questions, give me a PM.
