The Blown LS6 build begins. Need opinions/experience
To start off, I am building/helping build a ls6 from the ground up for a freinds' 04 GTO. We both have lots of experience around cars. I've personally built a few sbc's and bbc's, but not an lsx. I am looking for any imput/experiences with motor builds similar to this. The car currently is his Daily driver, but the plan is to build this motor on the stand out of the car and have it ready by spring. Then swap out the ls1 for the ls6.
The goal is to net around 600whp and hit 10's while being somewhat streetable. Obviously money is a factor, but this will be done over a decent amount of time so he is willing to drop a pretty penny in it. He wants to stay stock cubic inches so he wont be overpowering the 112 maggie because it's the smaller version.
Car's current mods:

Ls7 clutch
koni adjustable rear shocks
drag bags
Long-tube headers to cut-outs
M112 Magnacharger at 4psi
Stock bottom-end/heads/cam
Slick's skinny's set up for the track
We picked up a set of AFR 205 heads complete except for rockers and it came with a complete ls6 shortblock that this build will be based off of.
The Magnacharger will be put on the new motor before it is put into the car in the spring and tuned.
So far this is what we have planned/where we need help with the new build

Whats the size cc are the combustion chambers of the 205's ? For a street setup I would shoot for 9-9.5 :1 compression. Go with the ARP main studs and have the bearings alined honded. ARP head studs with a MLS head gasket. Lifters if you have the money get some morels if the budgets getting tight go with some ls7's. Timing set... A double roller would be my first choice, my rollmaster fits with the stock timing cover and no grinding. Or you could go with a single chain ls2. Rods... callies or lunati makes very nice rods. Pistons... dimond, wiseco, or mahle, depending on the dish size you need. Rockers if the stock rockers will work on the afr's I would stick with those, My stock rockers are about the only thing left in my new moter, and holding up just fine.

I would shoot for a 9.5.1 CR
highly recommend using head studs on a booster motor
ls7 lifters are fine for your goals
stock rockers are fine for your goals
callies rods but you could get away with eagle.
wiesco pistons -11 or -7
C5R chain
GM MLS gaskets are fine.
Fuel system is up to you, too many variables.

My car makes more hp than what you're looking for.. i'm running LS7 lifters. They are highly recommended, even by engine builders. GM did it right it with them.

If you want 10-12 psi of boost, I wouldnt want 9.5:1 compression with the bullshit gasoline we have today...unless the car will be solely on E85. I think somewhere near 9:1would be much better, in my opinion.
