Patriot Heads.
Okay, we all have seen the great prices. And we all have seen the excellent flow numbers. My grandpa taught me at a young age, that when you buy a diamond ring for 10 cents, chances are you bought a ring that isn't worth a damn dime. Are they really that good for the price?
Tell me why I should buy a set of Patriot heads, instead of the AFR Mongoose Stage II's that I keep looking at! Or the GTP's?
Anyone deal with Patriot? Are they honest? How fast are they shipping out the heads? Should I spend the extra $1000 for the AFR's? Do I ask alot of questions for a guy from Nebraska????
I have an appointment with Raging Motorsports for the first week of April. I need to make a decision on heads very soon. Talk to me.

All I can say about Patriot is great service and fast delivery. Usualy you have your heads within 1-2 weeks.
If you have any questions about their heads just call them or Texas Speed and they are very helpfull.

I know Mark at Raging and I'm on the way for your trip (St. Joe MO.). I putting the LS6 style (59c) heads on with a MTI C2 cam sometime this month or in Jan. I sometimes roadtrip to Omaha and Lincoln, so I'll keep you posted and let you see the car when it's done.

I am not convinced by the Patriot heads yet, sorry. I've only seen one impressive dyno number, and have not seen any track times to speak of. They seem to be putting out good power for the price, but nothing special IMO.

i second the track times. i what to see some track times with just these heads, cam and bolt ons. also from a car that is over 3500lb race weight and no electric WP. and no tricks eather. if i see lots of people claming high 10s or even low 11s NA, i will belive in them. until now, i will port my own heads and see how far it gets me.

I have a set of Stage II 5.3's, that I will be installing after the holidays. I will get to the track ASAP and post results.
The only impressive ET I have seen from these heads was the winner of Quick Street at the Thunder Shootout. He is using the LS6 style heads and I think he went 10.7x.

Saw someone selling AFR's for $1650 so that vs Patriot for $1799 for the LS6 style or ~$$1299 to 1399 for the other Pat's.
That's a hard call. I think the new AFR's will have more potential but it will be a while before the secrets are discovered to wring the most out of the AFR's. I think lot's of hand porting and new CNC programs will be required to get the max out of the AFR's.
If you in a hurry go a head with TEA 1.5's, MTI S2E's etc or the Pats...if your willing to wait get the AFR's then get them ported and spread out the cost over time.

Thanks for the replies. The flow numbers are proof enough on how well the heads flow. My friend Rocky just bought a flowbench.
I will get a set of LS6 heads, and put them on his flowbench. If the numbers dont jive....well, its not like I would keep that information from this forum.

Im fixin to buy a set and I based my decesion on what I saw with my own eyes. It was a 11.21 @120 with a 1.56 60ft. in south texas air. My friends car has PP5.3s, X1, ST3500, 3.73s and all bolt ons except EWP and Yella Terras. Thats good enough for me. The money I save can go for more parts.
