Default Going with bigger cam... Need advice.

I currently have stock bottom end, Torquer V2 & stage 2.5 5.3L Heads.
2000 Z28, M6 with a 12 bolt.
I would like to install the MS3 or MS4 cam.
Would my heads be good enough or should I go with some 243's worked on?
What would be the difference between the two set ups, Power wise?
I am currently making 408 to the wheels.
Thanks in advance......

i don't think you'll pick up that much with the MS3/4. maybe 10hp give or take. might even lose some torque and power down low.

and the 243s likely would only gain you a few hp as well.

what has me confused is why you T2 with decent heads is only make 408rwhp. hell that's what my car makes with stock heads, old Torquer cam and a FAST.

or is that on a dynojet?

I doubt switching heads to ported 243 casting will help much. Going from a Torquer 2 cam to a Magic Stick cam don't make much sense. Sure, you'll gain some peak HP, but you'll lose low and mid torque. Spend your hard earned bucks on a ported FAST 92 and Nick Williams 92mm TB.

Yea it's was a Dynojet.
I also have 135,000 mile on my bottom end. About 1,000 miles on the H/C/I.

LS6 intake.
When I did the H/C/I swap, I installed new timing chain, LS7 Lifters, Ported oil pump, hardened pushrods 7.4 & U/D pulley. And now i also have the sewing machine sound. But that is another story in all.

MS4 will not clear those heads period w/o flycut. The MS3 will only clear if TSP set those heads up with a little more valve drop for the MS3. You have to ask them to do this so I doubt either cam will clear.

I have those heads with a slightly smaller cam and a 90/90 an UD pulley and made numbers in sig on a dynojet so your in the ballpark IMO..... You just see #'s all over the board sometimes in here....

h/c/i means intake as well if your car had an ls1 intake i still consider it a h/c my friend kingcater put an ls6 intake on his car said he felt no differance over his ls1

Can you feel 10 hp? I wouldn't. Not worth paying $350 if you ask me. I would rather save up $650 and possibly get a good bargin with a member here..IMO

that's really low IMO for your mods...a buddy made 440 on a MD dyno with the 233/239 and the 5.3 heads.

I made 445 with torquer 2 and dart 205's thru a 9 inch 4.11 gears.

I wouldn't swap cams and if I did it would be a custom grind.

10hp is what you would gain by going ls1 -->ls6 intake on a stock/bolt on engine.

with a cammed or better yet a h/c engine, you could easily see more than that. especially in the top end where the engine really needs air.

i know i picked up 5-10 hp and torque all through the power band when i put my FAST on, and i could really feel it around town.

I agree with Batboy on this one. I would just stick with the tq.2 and save for a ported Fast and a t.b. There's nothing wrong with the tq. 2 cam. It's what I run. And your numbers don't seem bad to me.
