If you're looking for a budget head, most people on here swear by PRC heads (TSP). I am going with the MS3/2.5 5.3 PRC combo myself in a few weeks. From what I've read, the Patriot heads don't have much of a reputation around here and the cost difference between Patriot and PRC heads isn't much at all. I've never read anything bad about PRC heads and they have a good following on this board. Therefore, and I believe others will chime in, I would suggest going over to TSP's site and checking out their stuff instead of Patriot. Also, since you're in Texas it makes more sense to check out TSP because they could do your tuning for you as well. Just my .02

I run them... no internet second hand info. They seem to work pretty well with me although I am down on cam to really take advantage off all they have to offer. Soon!
They have also been great to deal with from my experiences. BTW I saw in the dyno section a near 500 HP graph out of them

This is absolutely not correct at all. Just because we are similar priced to the Patriot stuff doesn't make it comparable at all. The PRC Heads are guaranteed to flow what they're rated, feature a better valve spring & a use american made valves.
Simply put buy both heads & take them to a machine shop to inspect. If your not convinced the PRC head is a WAY better product I'll give you your money back & cover shipping!!
Just because someone claims 300+cfm of air flow & sends the same flow sheet to every customer doesn't make the cylinder head you get anywhere near 300cfm...

Oh. A funny! Posted by a member of no club here with no stats. Probably would be a member of the 14 second club if we had one LOL
Get what your pocket can afford and who you have the best rapport with.
I'm almost down into the 10's 3800 lbs. Not too shabby... and oh I was 12's at one point and in that section LOL

I never ran them. I'm not that dumb. After outrunning numerous 420rwhp+ Patriot cars with my then 380rwhp (street and track), when I went looking for heads the Patriot crap wasn't even on the radar.

I run Patriots right now 2015 243 64cc with 2.08 and 1.6s with .660 springs. With a Torquer V.3 cam, unported fast 90/90, full bolt on's through a stock 4l60e with a 4k stall and a stock 10 bolt with 3.23s I made 461.7 rwhp @ 432 rwtq with my new tune. I haven't ran the car with my new numbers. However with my old tune I made 30 horse less and 18lbs of torque less with bone stock suspension and the mods I listed above I ran 11.45 @ 120.17 with a 1.602 sixty @ full weight minus the spare tire and jack. If someone could tell me how post a dyno sheet up in PDF format I would be more then happy to post up my dyno sheet.
I think PRC's are good heads too. My new set up will be a set of PRC 215 w/ MS4 or I might go with the same PRC 215s mill them to 59cc and run the Tsunami cam. Either way you go both are a great choice for the money.

As everyone knows, I left Patriot several months ago, so I don't have a dog in the hunt here. But, I would like to address a couple of things.
Before there is a huge pissing match here, I have personally flow tested PRC heads for members of this forum and have seen sets that did not live up to the advertised numbers, Now, with that said, as far as I know PRC made this right with these customers (with the exception of the sets that the customers had us cut a new valve job to improve flow).
Patriot does not use the same flow sheet for every set of heads and they also guarantee their flow numbers. As far as springs, who doesn't know about the legendary Patriot Gold springs? We are all aware of the way they perform. if you need a little more spring, simply ask for the Xtreme upgrade. As far as valves, the valves used by Patriot are a great product and when I left, had no reported failures. Like Jason said buy both if you want and have them checked, he will give you your money back when the PRC heads fail the comparison test.
