Default RapTR Cam/Ported 243's Combo Reviews

Hey Guys,
I'm looking to get a Heads and Cam Combo. I was looking at the Thunder Racing RapTR Cam- 236/242 -.615/.615 -111 lsa. I'm also wanting to go with a set of ported 243 heads with this cam. I was wondering what numbers people have seen with this combo. If not with this specific combo what numbers have people seen with this in a cam only setup. Also I'm wanting to know If Fly Cutting the stock pistons is needed for this cam. My car is mostly a Weekend Warrior but i still would like to know how street friendly this cam is. I appreciate all Input and Feedback. Thanks

That camshaft is very similar to the Tsunami so we should be able to build you a set of PRC CNC Ported Stage 2.5 LS6 heads to clear. I'd expect the heads & camshaft could easily pickup 100hp.

Thanks Jason. I'll send a PM your way about the LS6 Heads.

Well I hope to have the cam in by the end of the month and put some passes on it (if it will fit). I'm hoping to get 11 teens @120 MPH plus out of it.

Here is a link to one of customers cars with the RapTR cam and stock heads:

There is no flycutting necessary with stock cylinder heads. As far as cylinder heads go, are you looking for a budget head or something like a TFS head. Here is a link with this cam and a set of TFS 215 heads. This was through a 9" and full exhaust:

Call me at the shop or pm me and I can get you setup with what you need

Well my heads are stock 243's just with 2.05 intakes. I know when I spoke with the folks there they said it would be close because I have .40 Cometics too. I know the TRex is supposed to fit too without PTV problems but people check and it has .050/.050 or they tap the piston tops. So how low can you go really?

The TRex would never fit with ANYTHING other than stock, stock, stock heads...

The RapTR could fit with your setup but I don't know for sure. If you could compare your valve drop with stock, I could tell you.

Thanks,
Shane

The RapTR has MUCH more clearance than the TRex does. They are cut on two completely different lobes.
