Stroker parts, Eagle Vs. Callies
I really think I'm going to stroke my project motor, I am wondering if the Callies Compstar crank is worth the extra money over an Eagle crank?
Same goes for the rods, Callies H beams or Eagle? is one better than the other? for some reason I don't have a problem with the price difference, I've only ever heard good things about callies rods, and I like how "Callies rotating asy" rolls off the tongue as far as parking lot pimpin goes, but which one performs better?

Hmmmm I've never had to hone either Eagle or Callies rods really although on the very first Callies we had to hone the small ends to to excessive barrel taper but that was 4 years ago now and the new ones are all perfect. We always hone the small end anyway on any rods for the pin clearance we want if we are putting the engine together.
On the cranks the Callies are overall nicer and more consistent although we have never had that many issues with Eagle either since we set bearing clearance and check anyway but they are not as nice overall on journal sizing. Callies now has the normal 4340 Compstar and also the 5140 Compstar so the Eagle is actually between them pricewise.
The Callies stuff is nicer overall and the Callies rods already feature ARP2000 rod bolts so they aren't as much pricier as they seem considering that actually.

We hone them to 2.2252, middle of the spec.
Eagle rods are 2.2245- 2.2247 at the parting line,
we've seen them up to .0005" out of round. We hone them to 2.2252 - 2.2254
just to get them back to round.

Fraser, this is not a flame or anything but:
2.2252 is the GM HIGH side and 2.2254 is .0002 over the HIGHEST housing bore size GM or Clevite recommends.
Total range on small block chevy housing bores is 2.2247-2.2252 or .0005 total.
I would rather them be 2.2247 ish all day long for maximum bearing crush and .0002 either way is no issue anyway. In summer 2.2245 is 2.2247 easily.
I like Callies and Eagles rods but we never take new rods and then hone them out larger than the GM high side limit right off the bat?
The split on the normal 2.100 SBC rod housing bore is basically 2.2250 and 2.1250 on the small journal.
