for crying out loud we need a spell/grammer check option in the text box...
that setup sounds pretty good. Just depends what your going for. The first thing that comes to mind with that build is it doesn't sound like it'll be very street friendly. You plan on driving this car all the time? or just a weekend fun car? It's one thing to have power, but another to have comfortable/enjoyable power.
otherwise, I say go for it. I think what you listed as mods will definately make your goals obtainable, and then some...

The power your after can be had with a smaller cam. If peak #'s is what you want then go for the bigger cams. Have you even looked at the specs on the trex? 242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa 3500-6700 RPM Power Band. Without a dead on tune this big sumbeech is gonna drive like **** it seems. A high 22x-mid 23x cam will be much better imo or better yet get you a custom cam spec'd out. Contact Pat G on here and he can set you up with something good for your goals. Bigger doesnt always mean better. You said your buddy made 457hp and 409tq right? Where did he make it at? If he made it at 6500rpms you need to ask yourself how often will you see that? If you want more useable power all the way across the power band then a smaller cam will do that. I'm not sayin bigger cams wont, but most dont.

I have a small baby cam "224R" and am making 446/416... given I'm on a 6.0 with milled heads. My cams powerband is more midrange rather than top end. And I absolutely love it... I'm RARELY up around 6500-7000rpm anyways. Peak numbers aren't always the best. It's a useable power curve that should be your target. A steady gain across the whole rpm range. And a table top for your torque!
Like Blue said, a cam somewhere in the 230's will probably work great for you. Don't get caught up in HUGE Durations... it can sometimes make your car less enjoyable to drive if it's not a straight drag car... Not saying that all cams with high durations drive like crap, there are certainly acceptions, but for what you seem to be after I wouldn't go with the Trex.... that's just my opinion...

^^^^agree....iv seen bolt on cars with monster cams hit like 420 but 457 is just unheard of....if thats the case tell him to buy a set of heads and set some type of ls1 record or something.....but yea always look past peak numbers.....a smaller cam with heads will make just as much up top and absolutely kill to donkey dick cam car on drivability, 1/4mile time and instant throttle response.
