Default slp from summit

I just purchased an SLP oil pump from Summit. It has longer legs to fit over a double roller. BUT, because this moves the oil pump ahead on the block I had to move the hole on the pick-up support because of alignment issues. Also had to remove some material from the windage tray in the oil pan to clear the pick-up. Then I had to mill some material from the back of the front cover where the oil seal is to clear the oil pump. No such thing as bolt-on and go. The only reason I used the double roller set was to get the 9 keyway crank gear to degree the cam.
NOW of course there's the issue of the slack in the new timing set. It never ends. I can't believe they build them this way on purpose.

Its all a matter of opinion obviously, but I like the Katech ported LS6. Then again anything Katech touches is world class. People get way to into high volume/pressure pumps. They aren't needed in a stock clearance motor.

Why do you need a double roller? A good single will handle all the hp you can throw at it(C5R). Harmonics are the enemy here (run a good damper along with a timing chain damper if so equipped). If you are dead set on the double then I really can't say. In LS motors I have only used singles. The new melling pump has been revised so it doesnt require very much clearancing if any on the front cover. Cant remember the part # but quite a few guys here are running it.

Melling changed their casting a bit recently to clear a DR TC. Make sure you get a new casting and your good.....

Yeah, make sure you post back if it works. This issue comes up a lot and I don't know of a list of pumps that clear. It would help if someone searched and read this.

ok guys i got the slp oil pump in and it fits like a glove, very nice oil pump, clears the chain and you dont need any shims on the pump for clearance for a double roller, the only thing i had to mod was the front cover cus the right side of the oil pump was hitting a little and the left side near the mounting bolts where rubbing a little but now shes in and so good so far, thanks for the help
