Question 99' 26lb injectors to 00' 28lb injectors, any benefit?

As I understand it, up to 1999 ls1 cars came w/26lb injectors and in 2000 they went to 28lb injectors. Any benefit at all adding 28lb injectors to a 1999 ls1 w/ls6 intake? Just wondering, I can snag a set for cheap...plus my pcm is about to go off for a tune.

What are your mods? If you haven't done heads/cam I would think there wouldn't be any benefit.

Not if you dont require them. Even if you do 2lbs an hr wont help much.

You have to have the mods to be able to apply bigger injectors if you do not when you tune the car to the new injectors because you just cant throw injectors in an engine turn it on and drive away you will encounter idle problems, you will encounter WOT problems and over all your car is going ot run like crap. Any tuner worth their weight are going to ask you why you want to add the higher injector size and explain everything that can go wrong if your supporting mods and HP do not need then injectors.

Now if you want advise on what injector size you will need in a future project then we are more than happy to help you out.

Another thing to remember all GM injectors are rated at 60psi meaning what ever they say they flow that's it they are not going to flow any more.

I doubt it would be worth the effort considering you would need it tuned. Depending on mods you may or may not need bigger injectors. When I did my heads/cam/intake swap I went with 42#/hr injectors even though I don't come near to maxing them out. It's always nice to leave yourself room to grow for future mods. As mentioned though you definitely do not want to throw in bigger injectors and then go drive somewhere to get a tune. Run the risk of washing the cylinder walls with too much fuel. A 28 might not necessarily since it's only marginally larger than a 26 but I still wouldn't risk it.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I currently have the 01 injectors in my 99 camaro. I didnt know there was a size differnce until today. Would this small increase be a possible factor in one of the reasons why my car is running rich? Or is 26 to a 28 not that big of a deal, and I am just stretching?

I don't think it will hurt the motor but you're likely down on power. This is a rough calculation but let's say you're tuned for 12.5:1 AFR at torque peak with 26lb/hr injectors and swap in 28lb/hr injectors now you've added about 7.7% fuel so it becomes 12.5 parts air to 1.077 parts fuel = 11.6 AFR. So basically you're just rich like you mentioned.
