Default TSP 383 Stroker & Patriot LS6 Dyno Numbers

After a long hard day of swapping heads we managed to get a couple of dyno pulls in. The new motor made 453 rwhp/436 rwtq through full exhaust, 12.5 A/F and 25 degrees of timing. I was hoping for a little more (and I know it's in there), but after spending most of the day in a cold shop, I didn't feel like spending a couple hours more tweeking the tune. This was all done with a small cam (by stroker standards), stock unported TB, and stock pulley.

I would like to Thank Jason at Texas Speed, Terry at Patriot, and Keith at FFP for doing a great job.

Great numbers. Take care of the throttle body, stock pulley and add a electric water pump and you should have what your looking for. Gonna be able to post the graph of soon?

I'll have to wait until Monday (no scanner at home). I have two versions; one with just my numbers, and one is an overlay with a H/C car that also made 453rwhp. The only thing similar between the two is the peak at 6200rpm's. Most of the pull I'm about 20 rwhp and 30-50 rwtq ahead. Once I saw that, I was very happy.

You need a bigger cam. With a 228/234 cam, my Lunati setup made about 460rwhp.

With a bigger cam, 1 7/8 headers, and 3" exhaust, I made around 485.

yes...cam needs to be bigger and exhaust needs to be bigger...now that the LSX intake is out and the 90mm TB...no reason you shouldn't get another 50-60hp from that puppy!!!

Nice numbers

T-body and pulleys will add another 10RWHP easily. How come so low on the timing? Were you seeing KR?

Cheers,
Chris

I bought them over a year ago and I think they were supposed to be 1 3/4. But then again, I thought all TPIS headers were the same size. I will see if I can get an accurate measurement today.

We started low because of the increase in compression (11.1 to 1 with 91 octane) and haven't worked it back up yet. I think we will be safe at 28* with 0 KR, but I won't move it up until I have a chance to log it one degree at a time.

porting the tb will wake it up. I knocked .3 off my et with that and removing the front sway bar. Went from 12.17 @115 with a 1.90 60ft. to a 11.82 @ 117.8 with a 1.72 60ft. on Nittos.

I'll agree with this statement.

Reboot, are the heads stage 2 or 3? Some people have had decent results witht the TPIS, but are you running catless? Some more timing and the little bolt ons and She should be pretty damn good. Remember, some of the lower dynoing 383's are running damn good at the track.

Yeah, peak HP. I can guarantee this 383 setup makes more under the curve than those packages plus this setup has a poor exhaust, poor TB, no UDP, etc.

I am running Stg II with 2.05 1.57 valves and 61cc combustion chambers. I am running catless through Borla Stingers (loud!). I am really happy with how this setup runs, and with it's mild manners in stop and go traffic. It makes over 400rwhp by 4800rpms and 400rwtq by 3350rpm's. I held off on porting my TB because of the release of the LSx intake. My ASP pulley needs to be machined before it goes back on because of the double roller timing chain.

The cam in this 383 cid is smaller than the G5X2 that is being installed in stock-cid engines. There's a lot of power that's been left on the table because he wanted to keep the setup very streetable. Not everyone is looking to squeeze every last ounce of horsepower out of their setup. This is a great setup with excellent street manners. This setup makes excellent low-end and mid-range power, and it does not have to be spun to 6800 to take advantage of the power being made. There's a lot more to a setup besides peak numbers!

I'm glad to see that your setup is working well for you. Just with other small bolt-ons, you can go after 460+ RWHP with that small cam. Let us know if you have any other questions or need help. We're always here to help.
