Best heads to match and work well with my cam.
I recently installed a cam in my 2001 z06. Im now looking to upgrade from my stock ls6 heads some time in the near future to some thing that will work well with this cam and supporting mods. Here is what I have now.
231 237 .589 .595 112 cam
Fast 90/90 intake and t.b.
Lg street headers with catless xpipe
B&B prt catback exhaust
25% under drive pulley
New ls7 lifters
ls2 timing chain
ported ls6 oil pump

243's
I have thought about it but I really don't want the car to be down for a month or more. I have located a set of 799 casting heads which are the same as my 243s but I need to get some pricing together to see if it would even be worth buying the extra set to have ported.

I would have my 243s ported by a reputable porter like TEA, WCCH, cartek or PRC..Or if your on a budget you could get some tfs 220 as cast and later you can have those ported by TEA..jus my .02

bigfatls6 IMO I would send my 243s to Tea, if they already have the lightweight valves in them. If you mill them .020 and use .051 mls gasket that will give 11:1
Unless your runnig a thicker then stock head gasket 62cc would give 11:1. Not sure about how much clearence that cam has but if you mill and go with oversized valves you need to measure for PtV.
To the top does any one else haave any input? I already bought a set of new 799 casting heads to have done by prc. SHould I have them milled and if so how much?

01 z06's didn't get the lightweight valves, so it won't matter if he gets the 799's worked over or the 243's. Would for very little downtime, and can sell the 243's if he wants.

If you want power,go with after market heads. AFR 205 heads got me 40hp over a stock ported head from a top sponsor. TFS 215 heads will also be great. You can port a stock head and it will just be a stock ported head. Aftermarket cost more for a reason and are worth it.
