What size cam would you use with L92 heads and L76 intake and not have to have a big stall converter.

he is just trying to make this a street rod... not a track *****. so i dont imagine a 475hp motor is in the works. a 6.0 with stock l92's and a ls3 intake with a decent size camshaft. in the 230 range should give you what your looking for.

your getting some good advice here..they have already prescribed you the heads and intake all you need now is a custom cam and you will be on your way..for the amount of money your going to spend on that lq9 you would be hard to beat it investing the same amount in an ls1...

yeah the hp/dollar with the ls1 vs. the lq9.... the lq9 wins. if you want a truely custom cam id pm patrick g and talk with him. the new eps lobe camshafts are making INSANE hp. i'll have one in my motor as soon as it arrives.

Maybe this is a sign to put a supercharger on my Gen 5 w/LS3, and use my LS3 intake system on my new LQ9 with a set of L92 or LS3 heads.

if you have the money more power to you. but l92/ls3 heads and the whole intake setup isnt that expensive. imo less than a thousand for it. 500 for heads and 250-350 for the intake setup.

Yep thats one thing nice about the 6.0 & bigger engines. For what I got into a set of TFS 215s you could find a good used 6.0 short block, get new L92 heads, intake & make more power with it & it bolts right up.

the lq9 is a very hard engine to find for less than 1k$ if its in excellent condition. lq4s are nother story. the lq9 engine will net greater gains over a 5.7 ls1 with equivalent parts.
the extra weight is not even noticeable. but the power had is very noticeable. the 6.0 has the advantage of being bored up to .060 to make
375ci with stock crank. and has the advantage of a larger bore to make better use of the available airflow from heads used and larger displacement. = will just make more powa
