ASA cam is in. 'with idle vid" finally got it put together.
stock 98 short block with 241 heads, ASA camshaft, LS7 lifters, N-motion timing set, yank SS3600 stall, 3.73's , full BMR rear suspension , pace setter longtubes and ORY, TSP rumbler cat back.
it obviously needs a tune, but this is the second time firing it up. have to button a few things up to make it drivable. hopefully ill get it tuned soon and make a few passes in with and see how it goes.

well its all buttoned up and i put 20 miles on it today. the stock tune doesnt like rpm's under 2000. it bucks and surges a little bit, but i expected that. on the highway it runs flawless and pulls like an animal. im takin it easy til i get it tuned. but it sounds great pulls good ( for the couple times i nailed it.) the YANK SS3600 helps a lot. i dropped the tha hammer from a 5-10 mph roll a couple times and it just spun the tires thru 3 gears til i let off. the torque is definately there.

none as long you do it right and have a good set of stands. the car doesnt move at all. take your time , make sure the weight of the car is spread evenly on the stands and the stands are under a heavy part of the frame rails.

Really? I'm looking to do an ASA in my Silverado, also. I am building a 6.0L for it as we speak...
To the OP, that was the inspiration that I needed...looks like 11:1 compression, 243 heads and the ASA cam...lol...

its all about reliabilty and power, its a proven set up. ls6 yellow springs and stock everything else. make tons of torque and no worries about valvetrain breaking.
The ASA is a great cam. Has a beautiful TQ curve and kicks even more *** on nitrous. You can also run a ton of compression, and cheap/reliable LS6 springs.
That cam also works great with 243 heads.

That's why I was thinking about running that cam in my set-up. It's made by GM, proven and easy on valve train parts, not to mention, it has a naaaaaasty-*** idle! I just wonder if it will pass the sniffer test, as I am in California and have to smog my vehicle every other year...
