Question just got MS3 cam... need help and guidance please.

i just bought an MS3 cam for my 2002 z28 camaro. i have a few questions before installing it. first... can i do it with the engine still in the car? second... i will be using my stock 241 heads so what valve springs should i go with? third... will i have to remove my heads to change the valve springs and if so what head gaskets should i use when going back on?? and fourth... will i need to get different pushrods or rockers or anything or can i use all of my stock stuff??? thanks yall

You can do cam swaps with the motor in the car and you don't need to take the heads off. Just to remember to find a way to keep the lifters up when you actually pull the cam out. I would recommend getting some dual valve springs for that size of cam. I would also recommend grabbing some hardened pushrods over the stock ones. Your stock rockers will work with no problem on there. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I used this years ago it was so helpful at the time. Leave engine in, heads on, you will need a tool to swap springs .650 lift at least new hardened push rods any gaskets for front of engine.

depending on how many miles the engine has I would recommend also replacing the lifters which means you will have to get a Head gasket kit and also suggest a new oil pump and timing chain.

And don't follow their directions for putting the crank pulley back on or you risk stripping the crank threads. Search vettenuts threads and find his homemade pulley installer....

This is your friend. It has the cam install instructions. I would talk with TSP and get the parts they recommend, pushrod length and what springs.

+ 1 on the new oil pump and double rolling timing chain. def. a must when doing a cam.
