Default Plz help with cam choice???

hey guys i have a 2004 c5 a4. at the moment my mods are.

-vararam/powerduct
-ported fast 92/ls2 90mm tb
-tsp 1 3/4 lt headers/3"x-pipe
-xs power catback

now i already have a new set of prc 2.5 ls6's/ pac 600. lift springs.
so now i just need a cam, but my car is an a4 and i really dont wanna pay $900 just for labor to put a stall in it! wat cam do yall think would work well with my heads/bolt-on combo??

I want a cam that wont sound too loud at idle either, if it could chop a little i would love that, but idk if it can since im not putting a stall in it?? and also my car has the 2.73 gears, so the cam would need some good low end, and mid range power!!

I hope yall understand me guys, any input would be great!!

If you don't want to get a stall definately get a tr224 or smaller. Anything bigger and you'll hate it on the road.

It might be cheaper to get a 228/232 cam and a ss3200 stall now and be done with the car for good. Those heads want a lot more flow than a tr224 can give and REcamming your car and getting a stall in the future will cost a lot more.

FWIW; I still get 20.0mpg with my heads/cam/stall (50/50 driving).

ok guys well i am thinking about getting a stall the biggest i would go though is a yank ss3200. and i want to keep my stock 2.73 gears cause i love getting my 33-34 mpg.

As of right now my heads are prc stage 1.0 ls6's but i thought it would help if i got tsp to redo them to 2.5 specs?? do yall think that would be better or should i just leave them at stage 1.0 specs??

i saw in the post above that u did 420 rwhp with a tr224/prc ls6's?? how is the drivability, lope, and powerband?? also how is the ss3200 on the street??

Hey Slow!, Im not try-n to tell ya what to do but if you spend the money on the converter & get the 3200 0r even 3600 it wil do fine on the street & with the mods you already have & stock cam I would be willing to say it would be faster than if you did a aftermarket cam w/out a stall!

I agree with this^^^^^ and no it is not a worthwhile upgrade in your case to have your bumped up to 2.5 specs. All they do is bump valve size up from 2.00/1.55 to 2.02/1.57 You will never know the difference especially with a mild setup... Oh......and do a 3600 stall and never look back...

those are some nice dyno numbers for such a simple combo. Very similar to mine except i got 6.0 and tbss intake with fast 90tb.

thanks for the replys guys, the car is not my dd, i drive it maybe once or twice a week to the store and back, but i dont want nothing crazy like my ms4/4000 stall ta i had!!

and the car may see the track once a year for maybe 2 runs. now i am wondering will a stall also help me from roll races?? i dont really race but when i do, i go from a 25-40 roll, no dig races since my car is sitting on 20's out back lol!!
