Default Went from mid cam to donkey cam, Looking for experiences

I am looking for people who have had experience with mid cams and donkey cams in their cars. For example, If you had a 228 or so, then went to a Trex, Vindicator or the like I wanna hear from you. I wanna know what your dislikes and likes are about the two.

Im not looking to hear "its faster up top" or "you should get a 224 cause thats the best cam ever".

No. lol. I have a 236/232 110-1 in there now(346) with bolt ons that put down 383rwhp with crappy exhaust (yes the exhaust has been fixed, just never redyno'd it). I am going to do a few major things with the motor this winter, I just don't know if I wanna stay with the power curve I have now or want to try a higher reving cam. The cam I have now makes power from 2.2k upto 6.4 or so and is a blast on the street and sounds great.

Just thinking of trying something different. The 4.30s that came with the 9 inch is what got me thinking, that and when Im cornering and racing, I'm around 3.5k ish anyway.

I guess I'm asking about powerbands and cam nature

236/232 is already big, I wouldn't think it would be worth it to go to a MS4 ect and gain ~/+ 10hp. I'm also interested how people that went from 224 cams to bigger cams like yours like their choice for a daily driver.

I love mine as a daily. Power everywhere. I'm doing heads, intake, and whatever supporting mods are needed for the choice of cam I wanna run this winter. Once I do all that stuff, my cam will not be optimal for my set up.

So I'm on the fence about giving up some low for having the pull up top or having the pull during the curve and losing some up top

I was considering getting a 230/232 .605/.610 112+4 instead of my small tr224 but I didn't want it to be bad for DDing the car. It will cost about $1000 after a tune though for about 15-20rwhp.

Is the lift on your cam .600 or higher? Because I wouldn't see than cam holding any heads far back for air. But if the engine will already be apart and you want that extra couple hp I guess it is worth it. What heads are you considering BTW?

Do you plan on getting or already have an 85mm z06 MAF/ 90-92mm fast manifold/throttle body and american racing or kooks 1-7/8 headers into 2.5in-3.0in dumps? I would see a bigger restriction there if that isn't adequate than getting the biggest cam that could fit.

It is over .600. Around .624 I think? The engine is coming out anyway. Looking more for engine characteristics than hp numbers

i have tsp tsunami 235/240 on a 111lsa and i think it drives great on the street, the only problem is with the combo of my cam and my sweet thunder dumped exhaust its way too loud to drfive in town, it sets alarms off every where i go.

I am considering Livernois ls6s or Patriot. If my budget allows it, I will get some AFRs or some Tricks.

The car will be SD tuned on e85. I already have Hooker Headers along with a 3inch cutout.

I know what you mean. My friend has Dynomax true duals (dumps) and its louder than my single three inch cut out.

02sslayer, have you driven a smaller cammed car and compared it to yours?
