Bad bearing need options
Well after a trip to the track today, I picked up a rod noise. 100% sure thats what it is. Oil pressure gauge fluctates really bad and heard this before. SO, money IS a object here.
Options
1: pull it down fix whats wrong and do a little head work and ride
2: fix what wrong and sell cam and get a head cam package
3: Just try to find a LS2 or 6.0 shortblock and a nice H/C/I

well your option is buy a used crank. new bearings and 1 rod along with new rings. when rod bearings spin there really isnt a cheap way to do it if your wanting to do it right. best bet. find a 6.0 short block for abt $450-500 and be done. youll end up having to do a full rebuild so just replace it and keep it or sell it to make a couple of hundred bucks back

I would open it up and see how much damage there is. I have seen numerous engines get a rod knock without spinning the rod bearing and/or damaging the crank. In those engines a good crank polishing and proper rebuild were all they needed.

If I can fix the bottomend. Im probably going to ditch the 853 heads. I currently have the 'el torro" cam 230/230 now. Thinking of going with a set of stock 243/799's with valve job maybe a little milling and a custom grind patG cam. I'll be expecting some 10 second slips, It has run a best of 11.4x with just a cam only no pulley and crappy 853's. 10's possible?

sorry to hear about the motor...at least you got to run it once to get some times...I put mine on the bumper last Friday and took out a few parts myself like my brand new american racing headers...
I would go with a ls2 or even ls3 block and stroke it...that is my plan if this one let's go...

well speed inc has a special for like 350 right now and I am sure you can get 275-300 for the el torro so it is only a 50-75 difference so don't let money be a deciding factor...
