I have SEEN IT and have READ IT and have RAN IT for a LONG TIME in MY CAR....

There is NO BETTER OIL THAN REDLINE in my mind.
Its got at least 3X the MOLY of any other oil,Its additive package is superior to anyone else's out there to date.

I love it kenny.....

For the summer
5 qt 10/30 and 1 qt 15/40

For the winter
I run 5qts 5/30 and 1 qt 10/30

I ran Dino 5/30 til I hit 500 and then I made a change to 5 qts of dino valvoline 5/30 til I hit 4500.Thats when I switched to Redline....

I do change mine pretty fast (2000K) but I also put that oil back into my everyday car for 5K miles afterwards,It works out perfectly for me this way,As I change the T/A oil the Celebrity needs a change too

What is the cost and more importantly the availability of Redline?

If its readily available (i.e. don't have to order it), then I wouldn't mind spending upwards of $40-50 per oil change considering its money well spent.

Thanks for the info guys.

I think Redline and Amsoil are the best synthetics (oil in general even) out there but their higher price and lack of availability make it easier to just go with Mobil 1 (also very good).
My brother uses Amsoil and gets it mail ordered, both are available online and from many board sponsors as well at around $7.00 per quart (slightly less in bulk).
I've considered switching over as well.

I thought Redline was an area in your rpm range? Are you pulling my leg Kenny, or something else?

Mike- Here is the website.

http://www.redlineoil.com/

Thunder Racing carries it:

70-10W30 Red Line 10W30 Engine Oil,1 Quart $7.95

I find it quiets down my valvetrain a bit, and lasts longer than RP and Mobil 1.

Guys,

I think Shore Motorsports down by me has it. I might take a ride there today to see.

Joel, you carry Redline? Any idea how much it is per quart? You aren't that far, if Shore doesn't carry it, I might take a ride down there next weekend if the weather ever decides to be nice again.

The only real alternative to me is Royal Purple. I 'think' RP may thin out too much at higher RPMs, that scares me a bit.

Is their any reason why Redline shouldn't be used on a car with 74,000 miles on it?

Kenny,

Joel's shop and Shore Motorsports are not Sponsors here so please do not post any info about them. More than a half dozen of our Sponsors carry Redline, please look into them for your purchase!

Thanks ya bum!!!

7.00 a quart plus s/h? I change my oil around 1500 miles.... I'd end up spending more on oil than I would on the car itself, I'll pass

Joe D,

Patman has done studies on Redline which support the claim that it lasts way longer than regular oil and other synthetics. Why 1500 then change?

Default Re: Joel...Info about Redline

Well I change my oil every 3 months or 2,000 miles. I use my car in between 700 miles to 1500 max every three months.

I heard a while back that the oil should be changed so often because of all the start ups, I heard starting and stopping a motor puts alot of stress on it. Plus the fact that I live in the city and it's not smooth driving. If I had it my way I would change my oil once it doesn't look at clean as it does straight from the bottle but there is no way of telling.

Can't wait to pull the heads, I want to see if these frequent oil changes have kept my motor clean.

I just don't understand the point in the Red Line stuff, the oil doesn't make your car run cooler, run faster or do anything for all I see. Hell, if your changing your oil every 3000 miles I doubt it is keeping the motor alive any longer or keeping any type of stress off of it as well. Too expensive for minimal benefits....IF there are any; which I doubt. People spend all sorts of money on smooth bellows and all of this other small stupid stuff when they could use that chunk of money for something really helpful but I'll keep my mouth shut, I don't know anything. I can see the point if you go 3,000 miles then re-use the oil (not something I would do) or if your at the drag strip every Saturday and Sunday but even then I would rather go with Mobil 1 once a month.

I can't find a reason to use Red Line.

Bob,

I probably have less then 1500 on my current oil, but I haven't changed it since September. I drive the car so little, that for me to change it every 2000 just means a few times a year.

Joe,

Some tests have shown Redline and RP to free up some power. However, like you, I am a bit skeptical. Sometimes I think perhaps the oil that was in those cars originally at the start of the test was so dirty that just putting in new fresh conventional oil would have showed nearly the same gains. At this point if it frees up 1 horsepower its worth it to me.

I do agree though that I'm not so sure Redline or Amsoil are THAT much better than Mobil 1 when changed within the 5k mile/1 year intervals that I go.

Kenny H - I think your right when you say any oil is better than dirty oil.

LS1LT1 - Not trying to get into a flame war here but I can't support it if the proof isn't there. You see the oil changes differently, seems like you go 5,000 miles or 1 year so you want good quality oil that "may" last a little longer. I rather have overkill when it comes to oil so I go with a good brand and get it changed very often. To each his own, as long as the car runs smoothly and last years to come use whatever you darn well please

Moving to the Internal section. Patman will chime in I'm sure, he knows plenty about motor oil.
