could be a couple of things moisture build up or you might have a coolant leak into your oil drain it make sure your oil still looks like oil. If your oil looks cloudy then you have a coolant leak if your oil still looks like oil then the moisture build up is around the cap and that means your cap could be sucking in moist air and that's where the moisture build up is gathering easy fix new cap the second not so easy if its not a head gasket leak then you have a leak some where and very expensive.

Me I think its the moisture build up seen it a few times.

happens all the time, it's from moisture mixing in with the oil. It's normal. But if there is excessive oil sludge build up then that is not normal.

alright guys thanks, so new cap, oil change and see if its fixed? Would this make the oil burn off or burn more than normal? Its been under 3000 miles since last change and has burned through 2 quarts at least, the low oil light came on today and it was a surprise...

it's very common for that yellowish stuff to appear if your car sees a lot of short trips. I know my car gets it every once in a while, just wipe it out. check your coolant and see if it's milky. if it is, it could be a headgasket, but that's less likely.

no dipstick just looks like oil.

I'll check the coolant when it cools off (the engine) just making sure the coolant should look green or clear or both right?

yeah like I said in the first post more than likely moisture build up and like said previously if you take a lot of short trips and your oil does not get to operating temp (190-210), what happens the oil does not burn off the moisture and you get that build up. Always turn your car on 15 min before leaving anywhere it'll bring that temp up and no sludge.

These threads always show up when it gets cold. If you live in the south you probably don't see it very often.

DING DING DING.

OP this is a very common issue and rears its ugly gooey mustard head when it gets cold out. Mine does it pretty much every year, and as massls1guy said these threads run rampid when it gets cold.

Wipe it clean, keep an eye on it, a new cap will not do anything for this issue, DO check your PCV valve if it is not working it will make the problem worse, and keep an eye on the oil on the dipstick. As stated above if the dipstick has this issue then you have problems most likely, if not I would not hesitate to jump in and go anywhere.
