Default Pros vs Cons of TSP torquer V2 and 228R

I've been doing lots and lots of research lately on cams. I am trying to decide between these two cams. Most people seem to go with the 228R. My question is why this cam over the T2? For those that have either of these cams if you had to choose all over again would you choose the other?

the 228r is a good all around size cam that is definitely gonna be daily driver friendly. I do not have either of those cams. I have a 230/227 cam that drives so much like stock and really civil. I have never rode in a cammed car either.

I can honestly say that i would have gone with a bigger cam seeing how civil my cam drives. So i would honestly step up to the TSP Torquer 2.

Like said above, If you have a great tune, the V2 is fine for a daily...
I get a lot of thumbs up from Old-Schoolers and Dudes with mullets.

You might want to check your specs again. that is way bigger than a torquer v2. 232/234 .595/.598 112lsa. I love my t2 pulls hard all the way to the limiter and really dosn't have too bad of drivability.

Right now I'm leaning towards the V2 but it changes almost daily. One day I want the V2 the next I want the 228R.

definitely get the dual springs for sure! Once i add heads to my cam setup i will definitely be running dual springs.

You will be better off going with the TSP Torquer v2. It is a 232/234. Just do a search on it and you will see the results people have had with it.

Got a local guy that dyno'd back to back with me. My stock LS1 with LT/lid put down 302rwhp/324rwtq. His LS1 with stock 243 heads, LS6 intake, LT/lid/exhaust put down 440rwhp/406rwtq.

Go with the torquer v2 (XER281HR). In my LQ4 6.0 it idled really well and drove great as a daily driver, but had tons of torque off idle.

If you go above the magic 230 duration mark in a stock cube ls1, your going to sacrafice low end torque and drive ability, ( cam buck 900 > 1400 rpm. )
Not to metion some extra fuel going out the tail pipes.

I just changed my cam with higher lift and wider LSA. The fricken thing runs Awesome off the line. As in 1st and 2nd, those M T Streets 315/35/17's n a Dana 60 with 3.73's juz wanna start spinnin

In fact a new 5.0 pulled up besides me yesterday. I C'n him in my rear view mirror very Quickly, LOL..... Should not have wasted the gasoline ?

I might have lost a couple HP up top, but I don't drive at 4 > 6500 rpm all day.

To each is own 3

! Check out Spartan's cam change 228/232 making 430ish rwhp !

I just did the Patriot gold duals. As mentioned, below 2000 rpms, It won't drive exactly like stock, even with a great tune, but you'll adapt your driving style quickly and forget what stock felt like. Don't hate yourself later for not going bigger.

The V2 (or other cams in this range) is not too big for a daily and not small enough to leave you wanting more. I've had 342, 373 and 411 gears. The 411's made me really love this cam. This got the rpm range above that rpm/buck/surge/speed window when rolling through parking lots, over speed bumps, etc. When I was babying the gears during break-in and shifting at around 2500rpms, I got 18mpg city with this cam!!!

Is it ok to reuse the stock balancer with new crank bolt after cam install? Don't really want to use an underdrive pulley as I will eventually install a supercharger.

If you're eventually installing a supercharger, you should reconsider your cam specs.
