Default torquer 3 and ms3 guys please read

I've been talking to Jon at Texas speed about possibly getting one of the 2 cams, now I need your input on how much you like the cam, what area they shine in (rpm, powerband?) I know everybody has there own definition of driveable, but how is it in your car, ( if its A m6) just looking to get some reviews basically thanks for any input and please don't post if you haven't ever had either of these 2 cams

I would get the torquer 2 over the v3. The 2 is ground on less aggressive lobes which will be easier on your valvetrain and you wont have to replace springs every 10k.

I have driven both, the torquer I drove was the v2.

Torquer 2 had great power from under 3k on up too 6.6k or so with an ls6 intake. Lots of fun to drive on the street that has good top end pull. Buddy of mine made 398 rwhp (lq4) on a nitrous tune with an ls6 intake.

Ms3 I drove was okay. It really pulled hard up top, but wasnt as fun to drive as the torquer 2 was on the street. The ms3 really didnt come on until around 4k, once it did it was a blast.

Both cars were m6s. Both had 4.10s

If you want a car that is fun on street and can hang with other cams get the torquer.

If you dont care about low end power and want a frum roller get the Ms3.

Both cams drove great (gears and tune are important).

im not extremely worried about the springs because i will be buying heads at the same time as the cam, not 100% sure which ones yet but i will have the springs to handle a cam

Thats not gonna matter. You get an aggressive cam & those new springs on those new heads will need to be changed about every 10k miles. Some people dont stop to think about this. If its a weekend only car it'll take a while to put those 10k miles on it, but if you drive everyday like me that 10k comes pretty fast.

Thats why I went with a 224/224 cam & will be goin with a EPS close to the same grind if I ever swap it out. I like my valve train to live for a long time. Right now I'm still on the same Patriot Gold duals I put in with the cam 3yrs ago & 60k miles later.

Lots to consider when tossin in a cam.

The springs that we sell with the torquer v.3 should last ~20k miles. We usually recommend checking spring pressures around 15k. I think 10k might be a little soon but if you would like to change them out that quickly you can. It is true that cams like the torquer v3 are tougher on valvetrain but new parts have been designed to deal with this stuff a little better.

I have the MS3 in my car. Have put about 2000 miles or so. Make sure you get a good tune in the car. Mine has been a lot of fun so far. I built my car more for the drag strip. Could careless what it does on the street or from traffic light to traffic light. It pulls like a freight train up top.

going with heads cam setup a smaller cam will work better . if it is stock heads you keep go with something big . i ran a cartek f1 , ling. 220 , magic stick and tourquer 2 before going getting heads .
with heads a 224 114 or abouts will keep from flycutting depending on the mill , deck , quench .

Best friend has a vette with ms3. Full bolt ons, and its m6 Z06 c5. I didn't like the driveability at all. Hard to take off, loud valvetrain noise, can't cruise in 6th til atleast 70+MPH. Car spins though 1-2-3 with 3.42gears though. 90+MPH on eagle f-1's so if you're not gonna be running slicks the power wont go down.

This, I would like to know.

What is the difference between the torquer 1, 2, and 3.

And which one pulls hardest throughout the band?

And are there any other comparable cams out there?

i have a variation of the MS3 and it needs gears. but it makes great power up top. So do you have to change springs every 10-15k on an MS3

When the advertised duration minus the .050 duration is < than 50 it's
considered aggressive....and obviously the valvespring has the toughest job

The previous owner of my dart heads had the V1 and put down 320ish to the wheels.
I am running the v2 and made the numbers in sig at only 6200 rpms, and it was still pulling.

I have no experience with the V3 but i would think with the larger duration split it would be a better choice with stock heads.

Just my .02

ive heard that the ms3 doesnt require flycutting if used with the 5.3l stg 2.5 heads, im not sure about l92 heads those are also in my toughts right now. the car has 4.11's and dr's so traction shouldnt be a problem on or off the track, i guess ill have to talk to john some more and see if we can figure out what might be best for me

and crazz those are nice numbers, thats in the range im looking for
